For my event I have two ticket types (adult tickets and children tickets). If I create these separetly I see the ability to add a stock quantity for each of the ticket types but not the number of tickets sold overall. We have 202 seats in our theatre and I have no clue how many children will buy tickets vs adults, so I need to set a limit on the TOTAL tickets purchased, not on the individual ticket types. Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Hi, Sean. Great question! 🙂

Unfortunately, the way the WooCommerce Tickets add-on works is that each ticket is its own individual product in the WooCommerce Catalog. As such, I’m not sure how you could like the inventory of the two. If the folks at WooThemes have any ideas, we’re happy for you to run them by us! 🙂

    Hi Kelly,
I spoke with WooThemes and they told me that it is possible to handle this functionality through the variations in WooCommerce. It does in fact work perfectly, except for the fact that the variation doesn’t appear on the WooTickets events page. For example, if I create Adult | Child | Senior tickets it will show up with those variations on the WooCommerce product page and show a dropdown box during the ordering process. If I am using wootickets, edit in woocommerce and go to that event page, all the rest of the information works fine, but it doesn’t show the variation dropdown. Is there some code that I could add on my end or a setting that I can change to make variations edited in woocommerce to wooticket evetns show the dropdown and work properly?

    Thanks,

    Sean

From a WooCommerce perspective, product variations actually make a lot of sense in this situation. You would have the ability to set stock levels per variation if required (as is currently the case with WooTickets) or set a total number of tickets.

From the WooCommerce docs: “Stock quantity – Stock for the particular variation, or left blank to use the variable product’s stock settings.”

I would definitely like to see WooTickets start to use “variable” products in place of “standard” products in future.

I’d like to jump on to this thread also. What Sean is describing is exactly what I was looking for late last year; being able to pull all ticket levels from one stock. As he mentioned, this is no problem at all in WooCommerce, it simply doesn’t display in the WooTickets page. HELP!

    Thanks!

+1 for me… Ideally, WooTickets would allow different ticket ‘categories’ with variations that have a total stock between them. I’m using WooTickets to handle golf tournament registration, and there are many variations on the main ticket registration (amateur, professional, member, non-member, etc…), but there are only a set number of total spots. I also have add-ons to the main registration (such as side games) that players can purchase in addition to the main registration, and they may also have their own total stock limits.

Hi, everyone! It’s great to hear you all be so interested in helping us add value to the product for you. Thank you! 🙂

Using Variations in this way is certainly an intriguing proposition, and we can definitely see how it would solve the issue that you’re having. That said, the plugin unfortunately wasn’t designed with that in mind, and that is not how it works at the moment.

We’re very open to feature requests and are almost to the point in our lifecycle where we can start thinking about prioritizing them. On the other hand, please understand that implementing such a change is not a drop-of-the-hat tweak.

We have started looking into the feasibility of adding this. In the meantime, we would be very grateful if you would suggest it and vote for it on our UserVoice page. (We prioritize new features based on the response they receive there.) Rest assured, once a decision is ultimately made, you’ll be the first to know.

    We really appreciate the feedback!
