ParticipantHi Guys,
I’m enjoying the plugin so far, thanks for keeping up the good work. As with a lot of things in the wonderful world of web development, often it’s those that appear simple that take a long long time to figure out. Here’s one:
I want to change the default title for the event listing/caendar view from it’s standard “Calendar of Events” to “Programme Overview”. I’m quite comfortable with hacking php and css files and thought it would be a simple case of finding the appropriate php file and altering the text. I can’t find it anywhere – nor can I find any setting or even any database entry that appears to contain that text.
I assume then that this is something to do with a language file? I’ve never worked with language files before (my default WP ADMIN settings for LANG are just blank – as I use English). If this is indeed a language file setting/change that is needed, can you please give me the steps to make the change? If not, how else can I achieve the above?
Thanks

MemberHi Graeme. Thanks for the words! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the calendar. What seems to be the easiest method for accomplishing this would be as follows:
* Download POEdit (http://www.poedit.net/).
* Open POEdit and from the File menu, select “New catalogue from POT file”. Select the .pot file from the Lang folder of The Events Calendar (not Events Calendar PRO; just the free core version).
* Find the term you want to change, and plug in the new values accordingly. You can leave every other field unchanged.
* Save, and it’ll generate a .po and .mo file. You’ll want to name these accordingly to something that works for your site; then upload to the Lang folder on your WP site.
* From there, just open your WP-config file; change the language to reflect the name of the file you just uploaded; and you should be set.Anything you left untouched will remain in its regular translation; the terms you changed, though, will show your new values. Hope this helps…if you have questions or if I’ve misunderstood the issue here, let me know.

ParticipantHi Rob – sorry for the late reply was away for a few days.
Thanks for the update. I can see what to do now. Although I must say this is a long winded approach that is introducing additional processing server side (translation check) when all I really want to do is change the text that appears at the top of the page.
Anyway – I dug around a little more and found that be creating a new page tempate for events I had control over this display. Job done.
Thanks for looking into it though. I’l going live with a new site (for a music festival) on Monday (tomorrow), so will post a link fr your showcase when it’s up (assuming the web servers don’t explode between now and then ! :-p )
Cheers,

MemberHey Graeme. Definitely agree regarding that being a long-winded approach; we’ve had a few users request to do this since launching 2.0 so we’ll likely be changing it down the road (2.1 or later).
Looking forward to seeing the finished product in the “Showcase” thread! You may have even posted it already, I haven’t gotten that far on my forum rounds yet 🙂
Do let me know if you have any other issues or questions going forward.
