ParticipantOkay,
So the site I am working on is producing a 404 error every time I go to anything to do with The Events Calendar Pro. If I go to the calendar page – error. List – error. Individual calendar event – error.
The weird thing is, if I go to http://ontariostrokenetwork.ca/?post_type=tribe_events, I can see the calendar and it works, until I click on an event and then I get the 404 error.
I have reverted back to Twenty-Fourteen theme and deactivated EVERY plugin but The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar Pro. I have changed my permalinks to Default and then back to Post name. No joy.
I should also mention that the Events List widget will show upcoming events, but once again, clicking on the links gives me a 404.
Is there any hope?

ParticipantNever mind – I figured out I am an idiot. It was my .htaccess file. All fixed!

ParticipantCould you let me know what you fixed in the .htaccess file? I’m running into the same issue on a site I haven’t touched in months. Thanks!

ParticipantThanks for letting us know you were able to find a fix, slightlynervous. I really appreciate it.
It seems possible Lisa that his .htaccess file simply did not include the necessary bits to get permalinks working. As noted here you need to setup .htaccess on your site, and the file should look like this. Also sometimes people run into issues from lower down in that article, such as not having symlinks followed. You can double check if any of this is a problem for you by going to WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks, and switching to Default. If all of your links work now, you might very well have an .htaccess problem.
Cheers!

ParticipantThanks! I had searched 404 error in the forum and that eventually led me to a solution – just needed to revisit the Permalinks page and save, then flush the cache. Since I haven’t touched the site in a while, I’m thinking the 4.1.2 auto-update might have caused the issue. It works now, thank you!
