Steve
ParticipantHi,
I recently purchased Events Calendar Pro. I have set it up along with the main plugin.
However, there’s some plugin issues which I’m sure would be affecting a number of people. At the moment the plugin creates a ‘fake’ page to put the calendar in, rather than having a page and injecting the content (which is what most plugins do).
My website is not yet public – I have emailed an access key and admin login details to your support address.
The problem. The calendar slug is /calendar/ and the single event slug is /event/. As you can see when you go to https://www.mywebsite.com/calendar/ my breadcrumbs are not working and the page title is displayed in the content area, not to the left of the breadcrumbs where it is in other pages. This is because even though /calendar/ is created it’s not an actual page, which means no page title is defined.
My theme also comes with a layout editor, however again, because I haven’t created a page for /calendar/ there is no template to define. The Events Calendar plugin just seems to use one of two templates and my others are not displayed in the list.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could offer. If I can get this sorted the plugin is absolutely perfect! Please let me know if you need any more info.
Cheers,

MemberHey Steve. Thanks for your note, and for the corresponding email with the credentials (which I can confirm I’ve received). This one is a bit outside my area of expertise but I have our developer looking at it now. Hopefully he’ll be able to offer up some suggestions here directly; if not, I’ll run it up the flagpole.

ParticipantThanks Rob,
I will await their response.

MemberHey Steve. Just a heads up that the first dev I brought this to was unable to figure it out either, so we’ve got the full team looking at it now. Is there any chance updating to the 2.0.3 release for both free & PRO (it was released today) did the trick?

ParticipantHi Rob,
I have upgraded both, but no difference yet.

MemberHey Steve. I reviewed this with our development team in full today, and it looks like this is related to a broader issue of how our templates are structured that we’ve been actively discussing lately. We in fact had a big meeting about it earlier this week in which we decided that we’re refactoring templates and page/theme integration quite a bit for 2.1. Until then there is unfortunately not much we can offer up to resolve this.

ParticipantHi Rob,
Are you saying for PRO 2.1 you’re planning on revamping the way TECP makes use of templates etc?
Are you able to provide more information on this? When do you think 2.1 will be released?

MemberSteve: yup, pretty much. This is a new decision we’ve just made this week; because the main calendar/list page is registered behind the scenes, most any plugin or theme where you can apply specific settings to a page do not work or at least are much more difficult to get to work. We’re going to have one of our devs put together a blog post explaining this as we make a little more progress, since for now it’s still largely in discussion stages.

ParticipantHi Rob,
Ultimately the page(s) used for the calendar should be visible along with all other WordPress pages.
I am glad that you have had ‘discussion’ about this. However I have purchased a product to receive a year of updates (the clock is now ticking) and support (which is no longer of use to me) for these kinds of issues.
I also note that nobody has attempted to login to my website using the details I gave Modern Tribe to even see if a temporary fix is possible.

ParticipantI’m disappointed that if you knew about this flaw it wasn’t better advertised that support is not available for it. Though that’s obviously not something that brings in sales.

MemberI have used EC Pro for one month now and love it. I have 20 seminars entered into our calendar and the organizer is always our company. I changed our email address after I had entered 10 events into ECP. SO I went in and edited each event and put in the correct email address. Now, I’m not sure I am doing this correctly. But now I have over 15 copies of our company under default organizer. I’m concerned that If there is a way to delete this multiple copies, that it will delete the corresponding information from the events that are posted in the calendar?
Is there a way to only have ONE copy of my default organization since it is the same all the time? ECP just seems to keep adding more copies of our company name to the list.

MemberHey Steve. Thanks for the feedback. As with any bug, we find it a more productive use of everyone’s time to spend development resources chipping away at the bug in the plugin code itself rather than fixing them individually for users on a one-off basis. That way everyone can get the new code quicker and it’s a smoother experience for everyone. As this particular issue was one that just came to a head since the start of this week, it’s not something we’ve discussed anywhere but the forum (though if you browse past threads you’ll see it has been an active bit of discussion). That being said, I do apologize wholeheartedly for the inconvenience. If you are unhappy with the plugin or it’s functionality, feel free to send me an email (rob at tri.be) and I can get a refund processed for you.
Shawn: Thanks for the words. I think the issue here is that you edited this on a post-by-post basis, rather than going into Events -> Organizers on the admin sidebar and changing it in the saved entry. It’s creating duplicates because the system cannot understand that the change you’re making should be saved to the existing entry (though this will change in a future release). In the interim, changing the saved organizer data – then applying that one organizer to all your events, and deleting the now-unnecessary duplicates – should get you where you want to be without any loss of data. Hope that helps…let me know if I’ve misunderstood the request here and I can adjust my response accordingly.
