ParticipantThis is probably a rather dumb question, but I can’t figure it out.
/events looks great.
But both:
events/category, and;
category/art/upcoming/
are a mess. I can’t figure out the css for those two.
I’m using the Default Events Template.January 21, 2014 at 5:36 pm #95480Julie Kuehl
ParticipantHi,
I’m not sure what you are asking here. When I go to your site and look at the event pages, they look pretty good to me. What do you consider to be the problem?

ParticipantYes, /events is fine, as I said above.
I have ‘events-archive .tribe-events-event-entry’ set to a width of 60%, which looks fine on /events, because I’ve got a thumbnail floated left of the <p>. I don’t want images on all of these pages because of server load; we plan to have thousands of events at a time.In any case, this 60% solution leaves the ‘events/category’, and ‘category/art/upcoming/’ with a truncated <p>. How do I target ‘events/category’ and ‘category/x/upcoming’ so that I can make the <p> 100%?
I hope this is clear! Thank you.

ParticipantHello again,
That page looks really great, but what you are trying to do is outside of the way the plugin was designed. Complex customizations like this are outside the scope of our support. However, we do provide a Themer’s Guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) and Documentation (http://docs.tri.be/) to help you make those changes yourself. If that is beyond your skill set, we may be able to provide a list of developers who could potentially help you.
Best of luck!

ParticipantHi, Julie, thanks for your reply. How, exactly, is it beyond the scope of the plugin?
January 24, 2014 at 5:16 pm #96783Julie Kuehl
ParticipantHello,
Thanks for the follow-up. Our support is limited to issues with the plugin itself. Your question is specific to your site and setup and isn’t something I can replicate on our testing sites. While we can provide information to help you make your customizations, we cannot build your site for you.
There is a section in the Themer’s Guide specific to customizing styles https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/#customizingstyles that may be of help. Have you tried using the different template settings? (Events > Settings > Events template) Or the stylesheets? (Events > Setttings > Default stylesheet used for events template) The Tribe Events Styles might have some value for you, but maybe give each of them a try to see what works best. Searching the forums may provide additional information too.
If you need anything beyond that you’ll need to use the resources we’ve provided. Please let us know if you are still unclear on our limitations here or if you have other questions.

ParticipantI don’t see this as a “complex customization.” All the things you’ve suggested above? OF COURSE I’ve done all of those, that’s why I’m ASKING. Should I create a new template for the category results upcoming events pages?

MemberHi Suzy,
Unfortunately I don’t think there is much more we can add here.
While I appreciate you don’t see this as a complex customization it is nonetheless beyond what we can help you with here. This isn’t a case of The Events Calendar malfunctioning, after all: it’s more that you want to shape and mould the output to better fit your own vision of how it should look. That’s fantastic and we wish you every success, but it’s something you will need to drive forward by yourself.
The problem with the 60% width is ultimately due to a rule that you (or someone working on your behalf perhaps) introduced in a custom stylesheet. If it doesn’t behave as you’d like you’re going to have to rethink it or else work with a suitably skilled designer/developer who can take your request and implement it for you.
As Julie explained we can certainly provide you with a list of freelance developer/designers who might be able to help you out further – if you would like to take advantage of that please do email us at pro (at) tri (dot) be and we will be happy to furnish you with that list.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread since we aren’t going to be able to assist further on this one – but we do wish you every success with the project and of course do feel free to post new threads if you need assistance with anything else.
