ParticipantThis is a LONG running problem. Almost 2 years. I personally first reported it in December 2015; at that time it was logged as a bug (and I honestly don’t remember if I was ever notified that it was fixed).
I just deleted a 12.6MB error_log file filled with nothing but
[21-Nov-2016 20:15:03 UTC] PHP Warning: strtotime() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/soloentr/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Recurrence/Meta.php on line 956
errors, multiple per day, over and over again. Dating back to Dec 2016 which is probably the last time I just deleted the previous error_log file. This (or a similar problem) was reported at least as early as Sept 2015, and a quick search for strtotime() in the forums shows more than a handful of reports at least somewhat related to this issue, the latest in May 2017 (and despite one of your moderator’s comments, this problem HAS happened to more than one user of Events Calendar. And looking at those forum posts, we don’t seem to have plugins or themes in common; at least one other person is using a custom theme as I am.)
As someone else noted, because the error occurs at a given time each day, it’s not possible to recreate at will. So changing themes/disabling plugins isn’t an option (this would be in the middle of the day for me, not a good time to take my site down on purpose, which is what would happen if I disable all my plugins.)
For now, it is mostly a nuisance (at least for me). But if I may humbly suggest, perhaps a review of all previous forum posts on this topic will reveal to y’all (who are smarter than me on php and such!) a common thread around recurring events and this error.
I am running the latest version of WordPress and all of my plugins, including Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro, are up to date.

ParticipantHi Terri,
So I did some checking into this one, and the bug report says it’s actually pending estimate! That means that this should be on the dev slate very soon, as we’ve been on a big bug squashing kick as of late (working our way through one plugin at a time). I will associate this new thread with the bug ticket so that you’ll get an update when it’s fixed. I’m not sure why your initial thread was closed, but this one won’t be until the issue is resolved. 🙂
Best,
Shelby 🙂

We’ve just released an update that should fix this bug. You can read more about it at http://m.tri.be/19tp. Please update your plugins and let us know if you are still experiencing this or if we can close out this ticket.
Note: We suggest testing updates on a staging server (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/creating-using-wordpress-staging-site/).
Thanks
