ParticipantIn our calendar there are lots of events that starts out as recurring weekly events that are broken out into single events as we get more specific information on individual dates. After updating to v.3.8 these events that were supposed to be single events behave like they still are part of a series of recurring events.
This messes up editing and can result in accidental deletion of a series of events. Also when filtering events to only include events that is not a part of a recurring series of events, the broken events shows up as if they were not recurring, even thou the event is listed as part of a recurring series. Also the trash link shows as “Trash Series”.
Looking at the update information, I found this that might have something to say:
“Added code to correctly identify recurring events as recurring
even if they only have one instance
(thanks to jrtoy4311 on the forums for reporting this!)”October 7, 2014 at 10:16 pm #795542Josh
ParticipantHello filadelfia,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
To make sure I’m understanding your issue, this is only occurring on events that were removed from the series of recurring events using the “Edit Single” action while using version 3.7 of the plugin. After updating to version 3.8, these events reverted back to being part of the original recurring series?
Is the same thing occurring with events that were removed from the series after the upgrade to version 3.8?
Thanks!

ParticipantYou got it right, this only happens to events created in the 3.7 version, and NOT with new events created with version 3.8.
Whenever I try to edit these events (in 3.8) as single events, I am asked about breaking the event out (again). This has no effect thou. In the edit event screen it still says: “You are currently editing all events in a recurring series.”
The textual contents of the events are still different from the original recurring event thou.October 8, 2014 at 9:10 pm #797813Josh
ParticipantHello filadelfia,
Thanks for following up!
I tested out locally with a fresh install using The Events Calendar and Pro versions 3.7. I created several recurring events and then removed a couple of dates out of the sequence by editing them as single events. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to recreate the issues you’re seeing when updating to version 3.8. The events remain out of sequence as expected and there isn’t a warning about editing all events within the sequence when editing these modified events.
As an initial step in diagnosing, would you mind following the Testing for Conflicts procedures to see if there is a conflict with an existing plugin or theme that is causing the issue?
I’m sorry for the inconvenience but hopefully we can get this sorted out for you.
Thanks!
