ParticipantThe new more sophisticated way of defining recurring events is great. This solves a number of problems I’ve had in the past — now being able to add multiple rules and exceptions. Thank you. Excellent!
But I noticed the sort of conversational description of the event timing that you used to be able to enter (“every first Tuesday” or “every Thursday afternoon” or whatever) in the event edit admin is gone. Also, descriptions I had entered for events I entered in earlier versions are no longer in the admin, and the way I used to call that info into a template — tribe_get_recurrence_text( $event ) — doesn’t seem to be working on those events that used to have them.
Is this feature gone intentionally, or is this a bug or oversight that happened when you upgraded the recurrence rules?

ParticipantAgreed, what happened?
With Recurrence Description field:
Every ThursdayWithout Recurrence Description field:
An event every week on the same day that lasts 0 day(s) and 1 hour(s), the last of which will begin on 2016-01-07.September 9, 2015 at 4:10 pm #1003527Nico
MemberHi Robert and @mmccoycchs,
Thanks for reaching out to us on this, and sorry for the inconvenience it might be causing to you.
I mostly sure this is an intentional change, but I’ll confirm this tomorrow with the dev team. If this is the case I’ll try to find a work around this ‘limitation’. Maybe adding a custom field and getting that value out in the template sounds like something that should work.
Thanks for the patience on this,
Best,

MemberHey everyone here!
Just wanted to give you a heads up on this: it was an intentional change, but we understood this feature is important for you and we are adding it back in the next release! Thanks a lot for your feedback and also sorry for any inconvenience this might cause in the meantime.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you until this is back again,
Thanks,

ParticipantSounds great. Thanks. Any idea on timing?
Also, I’m going to assume (hope?) the data I had entered for this field prior to 3.12 is still in my db somewhere. Haven’t gone poking around yet to see.

MemberHey Robert,
Thanks for following up. Next release is scheduled for the end of next month, but this is not firm and is subject to change!
I’m not familiar with how this is gonna be added back, but I guess it should be compatible. I’ve added a note to point this out, thanks for bringing it up!
