Participant$65 for a plugin that takes a simple event ID and creates an iframe? Not only that but the iframe isn’t even the correct size. Doesn’t import the flyer from the event.

I gotta say, I’m totally let down and will not be recommending this plugin to anyone. Way too expensive for such a simple piece of code. Sorry guys, this doesn’t cut it.October 11, 2013 at 4:06 pm #70676jessebrede
ParticipantIn my sadness, I forgot to report the bug. There is an unclosed span around the date. You can clearly see in this event:

ParticipantHi, Jesse. First, let me apologize for your frustration. That’s never our intention, and we certainly want to make sure it doesn’t happen again! 🙂
While we try to encourage potential buyers to read the product page in full before buying to get a clear picture of what the plugin can and cannot do, it’s apparent we failed you by not making that clear enough. If you have any feedback on how we could have been more obvious with the features up front, so others don’t face your same disappointment down the road, we’d love to hear it.
As far as the purchase price goes, please remember that you’re not just paying for the simple iframe feature, but also, the ability to import events and, perhaps more importantly, to create event tickets directly within WordPress, which is a real boon to many of our users. Moreover, you’re also paying for support – which we pride ourselves on and for which we have a bit of a reputation. 🙂
As far as customizing the plugin goes, beyond our Themer’s Guide to the Events Calendar and our extensive Technical Documentation, our tutorials are a great resource for you. Here’s one describing how to customize the size of the iFrame from Eventbrite: https://theeventscalendar.com/changing-the-height-of-the-eventbrite-tickets-iframe/
I also encourage you to use the forum search. It may not be very pretty, but you’re likely to find someone who’s run up against the same issue you’re having.
Regarding the display error you’re experiencing, upon closer inspection, it appears that the markup is just fine, and the issue is happening when the page is being rendered in the browser. It’s likely a symptom of this issue, which affects many third-party themes,: http://pippinsplugins.com/use-the_title-and-the_title_attribute-correctly/
Did you try testing your site in a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Twelve? If you did and you saw the same behavior, then that’s definitely something we’d like to help you get to the bottom of.Sorry for the long-winded reply. I hope this helps get things back on track for you. Please let us know how your testing goes and what else we can do to be of assistance! 🙂

ParticipantOkay, you are right. I calmed down a bit. I do agree that the plugin does what you say and you do offer good support. It’s only that this is the 3rd site that I’ve used this plugin on and on each one, I’ve run into issues and conflicts. Buying just before the 3.0 update didn’t help either. I had a site ready to go and then the 3.0 update came out and I had to spend another 2 days fixing and making updates. It was not pleasant.
The themer’s guide is really not that great in my opinion. Maybe I’m missing something but it’s basically one page that says to create a folder in a theme. My suggestion would be to have a demo that you could download that would more quickly get people up to speed. Better yet, A few demos that solve some of the most requested things people need. I’m often very confused on where to look for functions and code and maybe that’s on me.
The forum is pretty solid but again, I’m finding that things like adding a featured image to each event should just be done and be an option in the code, not something that I should have to hack together. I think for $65 a head plus other ad-ons, the team could make the plugin much more robust. For instance, why not have a basic color selector system for styling the plugin? Why are are the widgets so basic and have such limited formatting? Again, why would they not show an image of the event?I appreciate your help and wanted to give you some feedback. Thanks for your time.

ParticipantHi, Jesse. Thank you for your thoughtful, candid reply. We definitely value your feedback.
I’m sorry that the upgrade cycle kind of bit you in the butt. I do know the feeling of thinking you’re almost done with something just to be hit by a big setback. The update to 3.0 was challenging for many users (myself included, actually), and we apologize for any pain caused there.
We are certainly taking the feedback about our support forums and resources to heart. Actually, a complete redesign is in the works, and we hope to make things much more intuitive and easy to find. Until then, your best bet is the sidebar, especially the Tutorials and Snippets.
Our goal with the basic calendar is to offer something that is robust and extensible while not being overloaded. The add-ons are to give premium functionality that applies to a more limited subset of our users, plus access to responsive support forums. Specifically with regard to the Eventbrite Tickets add-on, we are, unfortunately, fairly constrained by what the Eventbrite API will allow. We are planning on overhauling it at some point to make it integrate with the ticketing interface we’ve used for WooCommerce Tickets and the soon-to-be-launched WPEC Tickets add-ons, but I can’t make any promises as to when that will make it into production.
In an ideal world with unlimited time and resources, we would definitely offer more, but unfortunately, we have to operate under the constraints that we have. We are continually adding more resources, and I personally have a couple of things in the pipeline that may exactly what you’re after! If you have further feedback or would like to make sure that there’s something that’s considered when evaluating which features to prioritize, we’d be very grateful if you would post on our User Voice page at https://tribe.uservoice.com/ We’ll be sure to factor those in when plotting the product’s broader roadmap.
Thanks again for your support, Jesse, and please let me know if anything else comes up that we can help you with. 🙂

ParticipantHey Kelly,
I’m having an issue with this event created via the Eventbrite plugin. Initially, the event was showing the eventbrite ticket iframe but it no longer is. I don’t recall changing this or turning it off. Is there some code I need to add to the my template to make this show up?

ParticipantHi, Jesse! It’s great to hear from you. 🙂 That does sound like a bit of a puzzle.
First, I’d check to be sure that the little radio buttons to display tickets and leave the event associated with Eventbrite are set for “yes”. It should look something like this: http://d.pr/i/r4de
If those are both set correctly, then I would suggest trying to re-import the event to see if you can display the ticket iFrame on another Event page.
Let me know how it goes!

ParticipantHey Kelly,
I think the event somehow got disassociated with Eventbrite somehow. I skipped to step 2 and just added a new event and it\’s now showing the ticket options.
We can close this thread. Thanks much.

ParticipantThat’s fantastic news. Well done, Jesse.
Since you’re set for now, I’ll go ahead and close the thread. Please open a new one if anything else comes up that we can help you with! 🙂
