ParticipantToday, I needed to update a one-time event. With the recurring filter set to No, my event wasn’t visible! Baffled, I set the recurring filter to Yes, and there it was. However, in the Recurring column, that “flag” is not set, i.e. “–“, not “Yes”.
I edited my event – the recurring drop-down says Once. That is the default for adding a new event; there does not appear to be a way to “back out” of that setting to remove that Once “rule”. I went back and checked a few more events. All of the ones listed as Recurring but flagged as “–” have that one recurring rule, “Once”. So, all events added since sometime in September (I can’t pinpoint the date or what version, but events added as early as 9/24 are affected – I believe I updated to 3.12 on 9/22.)
I saw this thread https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-rules-events/, which says a recurring rule of Once should remove recurrences. It works – they are just listed in the wrong “filter”.
I could remove the Recurrence filter, but I have events that repeat daily, so that’s unwieldy. And there is no “sort” option for that column.
I’ve just updated to Events Calendar 3.12.3 and Pro 3.12.2.

Ack, I see exactly what you mean. Using the Advanced Post Manager to filter events recurring events on the back end do indeed show events that are not recurring.
I don’t have a fix for it at the moment, but I have created a ticket so we can fix that in an upcoming release. No target date yet, but we will certainly follow-up with you here when we have more info to share.
So sorry for the issue here! Thanks a ton for reporting it so we can check it out.
