ParticipantHi there!
Before the last update, old events would automatically expire and stop showing up. Now they have to be manually moved into the trash. How can I get events to automatically expire again? Here’s an example of old events still showing up http://www.telluridelibrary.org/adults/events-adults/
Thanks!June 13, 2014 at 1:07 pm #223772Casey D
MemberHello telluridelibrary,
Thanks for contacting us!
According to this view, the first event in June is on the 6th. http://www.telluridelibrary.org/events/category/adult/month/
What I think is happening is you have a template override to display the view you have in that link (which is very well done by the way).
We must have changed something in 3.6 that caused the query to fail on your template, so it grabs everything from the month of June, not just the upcoming ones. That’s why the ‘expired’ events still show up, because they all happened in June.
Did this just start happening with the 3.6 update? Could we get a copy of your template override? A zip of your theme would be the best way.
Here is a list of changes in 3.6 https://theeventscalendar.com/the-events-calendarpro-3-6-changes-you-should-be-aware-of/
Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.
Cheers!

ParticipantHi Casey
Thanks for the response. This did start happening immediately after the upgrade to 3.6. How can I attach the theme zip file? Or should I email it? Thanks!

MemberHello telluridelibrary,
Feel free to send the zip to [email protected]
Since this is a customization ultimately, my ability to help may be limited, but I will gladly take a look. Especially if there is a possibility we broke something.
Cheers!

MemberHello telluridelibrary,
I went through your child theme and this issue is almost certainly caused by the List Category Posts plugin. The file kallyas-child/list-category-posts/wplkids.php looks for $this->catlist->get_categories_posts() so it is pulling all events with that category. I’m not exactly sure what you’ll need, but you’ll have to query based on the time and our special ‘tribe_cat’ taxonomy. We don’t use the standard WP category taxonomy.
I hope this helps! Unfortunately this is as far down the rabbit hole I can go. Our official response is that our plugin works well as is, and there unfortunately aren’t any guarantees for interoperability with 3rd party plugins.
If you have any further questions, feel free to submit them! I’m not sure I will be able to answer, but maybe I can point you in the right direction.
Does this make sense? Cheers!
