ParticipantWe run classes for 8-weeks, every Monday night from 6:30-9pm.
So far I can’t tell how to show these without them showing up as recurring individual events – what we want is one event with 8 classes.
Please advise – just bought Pro so I could do this and can’t work it out.

ParticipantHey @laughmasters,
Sorry you’re having some trouble here! This should fortunately be pretty simple to set up: basically, just create on event on Monday night from 6:30-9pm, then choose the “Weekly” recurrence pattern and set the end date for 8 weeks from now.
This is one recurring event series, with 8 events where each one is one class.
If this is not what you want, can you clarify exactly what is wrong with this way of doing things, and how you instead would want this to appear/work on your site?
You can make one 8-week event, although to do that the event would have a “Start time” of 6:30pm on the first Monday and an “End time” of 9pm on the 8th Monday from that – so, it’s not quite an accurate representation of things because these are 8 separate classes, not one event where you show up and just stay for 8 straight weeks.
And, unfortunately, if you do this, you will not be able to make classes within that single 8-week event or anything like that. Each class needs to be its own event if you are trying to sell tickets to it, or link to each class individually or something, etc.
Sorry to disappoint!
Thanks!

ParticipantThank you – the problem with what you describe below is that our class is one “event” not 8 events.
Right now when we set it up as you suggest we get 8 separate events and they all appear to:
a) be separate unrelated events
b) cost the same for one class/event as the whole 8 week class should cost.I think what we want to do is create one “event” that has 8 consecutive Mondays in it.
Does that make sense?– LMA

ParticipantHey @Laughmasters,
Thanks for the update here – unfortunately, the only solution here is the second example I gave in my reply above: creating one event that starts on the first Monday at 6:30pm and goes to 9pm 8 Mondays later. This will be one eight-week event, that spans that entire two-month period.
Let me know if this is sufficient for your needs. I am sorry about the lack of options here but if the class is 8 consecutive Mondays, then our Weekly recurrence schedule for an event that happens every Monday normally makes sense for users. Every Monday there is a class – and with our recurrence pattern, every Monday there is an event to represent that class.
But these are indeed all separate events – all part of on recurrence series, yes, but still separate. So if this is not what you want, the aforementioned solution of one event spanning 8 weeks is the only other alternative.
Cheers,

ParticipantMaking a single event that is 8 weeks long means it shows up every day on the calendar for those 8 weeks -so that’s not pretty.
Making 8 separate events whether manually or by using the recurring settings you describe, means that it will look to people like they can just buy one of the 8 classes – and at what may seem like a high price since it would be the price for all 8 classes. So that’s good for business.
Is this multi-day event functionality something you will be adding?
I can’t be the only person who runs classes/workshops/events that span multiple days, non consecutively that fall under one class/ticket/entry whatever… right?August 13, 2015 at 8:47 am #995804Brian
MemberHi,
George is out today and I can help out.
The way our system is setup it will always have to create an event for each day it displays. So if you have a class every Monday for 8 weeks it needs to create 8 events. Whether it is a single event 8 times or a recurring event.
Also, a recurring event series shares the same information it is just on different dates, so to me that is a multi-day event that is one event.
Are you looking to create one event in the backend and then select all the dates from there that it should appear?
That is duplicate of what we do with recurring events as the whole series can be edited at once. The only difference is in ours we create each event and connect them, while in yours it is just one event.
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks

ParticipantHey @laughmasters,
In addition to Brian’s input here, I’d just like to point out that if your main concern is that you don’t want people to buy tickets for individual events, and only want to sell tickets one time for the whole 8-week course, then this should not be a problem with the way our recurring events work: simply create the series with the recurring events as I described, then go to the first event and only add tickets to this event. You can label the tickets, so if you label them for the whole course then it should be fairly clear to users what the tickets are for.
This will NOT create tickets for sale on any other of the days – so tickets will only be available on that first event. You could even then place a link at the bottom of the other events in the series like “Want to attend this course? Buy tickets for it here.” which links to the first event where tickets can be bought…
Just some ideas. I hope this helps!
