Make an events page with theme sidebars and widgets

Gday there
I have recently purchased Event Calendar Pro and have started adding events.
The dynamically generated events page uses the default template from my theme (Enfold, by the developer Kriesi).
Can I instead create my own ‘real’ page in the theme, and thus setup my sidebar with widgets, and have the calendar and/or events listing suit my pre-made page?
When I did this (and named the page ‘events’) nothing seems to change, so I think it is being ignored by the plugin?
I couldn’t find anywhere in the settings to assign the events to a specific page.

Hi Darryl,

Great question! The best starting point for this sort of work is out Themer’s Guide – but essentially you would probably want to override and customize our default-template.php template (and also set Default Event Template as the template to use from within the Events > Settings > Display screen).
