ParticipantHello,
I opened an support issue in December, and I received a response that the issue could be reproduced, but I see that my topic was closed in Feb. The issue is still occurring. Please see below:
TOPIC: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/location-default-not-setting-on-new-events/
Hello! We have The Events Calendar Pro & we are having issues with the location defaulting on new events. We have 1 location and we have it set to default in the Events > Settings > Default Content > Default Venue.
When I create the new event in the calendar, the “Location” used to default, but recently I have noticed that I manually have to select the location.

ParticipantHi Jessica,
I just wanted to let you know that I am experiencing this as well! I thought it was me, but it’s good to see that there are others with the same issue. It’s not that big of a deal for me, but still a small annoyance each time I create a new event 🙂

MemberHi Jessica (and Hans). Sorry you’re experiencing this.
The internal bug tracker that your previous forum thread was linked to was supposedly fixed as of version 4.0.7
However, I tried it on my local testing site with the latest versions of TEC and TEC PRO and found the following:
When creating a new Event:
- I tested using a saved Venue and it didn’t work (although a saved Organizer did work).
- And I tested with default address information (address, city, country, etc) and ONLY the Default State worked.
When creating a new Venue:
- The address information (address, city, state, country, etc) ALL worked as expected.
If this is also what you’re experiencing, please know that I have logged a new bug report for this issue.
I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release. I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
