ParticipantHello,
This reply should actually be added to this previously existing thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/list-view-breaking-links/#post-1038924
However you have closed that thread even though this issue has not been completely resolved.
In that thread it was indicated that a permanent fix would be applied to the core plugin files: “It looks like this is currently a bug with the display of shortcodes in those excerpts. I’ve logged an internal ticket for this issue and you’ll be notified here as we make progress on this issue. In the meantime, you can get around this issue by modifying a core plugin file by changing the Events Calendar > src > functions > template-tags > general.php on line #1322 to: return wpautop( do_shortcode($excerpt) );”
However, the fix still has not been applied. Every time the plugin comes out with a new version, we still have to go in and update the core plugin file, or else the List View breaks, which is rather frustrating and cumbersome.
Are you going to please apply this fix to the plugin itself so that we don’t have to edit core files every time to fix this?
Thank you

MemberHi Justin,
Thanks for bringing this back into our attention and sorry for the hassle of editing the core files after every update. I’ve found the bug report Josh made back when you reported the issue and bumped the priority of it. I don’t think it will make to the next release as it’s already ‘closed’ for new tickets to be added, but be sure this is under the radar and will be fixed.
Please understand that is not as simple as changing the code as in the patch, the fix has to be tested under different conditions so we can make sure it doesn’t affect other parts of the code in different scenarios.I will set this thread status to ‘Pending Fix’ instead of closing it so you’ll get notified when this is ready. Does that sounds right to you?
Best,

ParticipantI’m not sure if this is related, but I just upgraded from 4.0.5 to 4.0.6 and the list view broke, where it started adding p tags around all (many) of the elements. I assumed it was an autop() error (how I ended up here). But i never modified the core plugin in 4.0.5 or 4.0.6 – would this resolve this issue?
I’ve already downgraded back to 4.0.5.
Thanks,

MemberHey Eric,
Thanks for jumping in! I think that the issue you describe is not related to the reported here by Justin, which unfortunately is still not addressed. Please create a new thread on this and we will be happy to assist you.
On that note Justin, I see the fix for this is targeted for next release (4.1) first maintenance release (4.1.1), not sure it will get included but most probably it will.
Thanks,
