ParticipantHey There,
I was using your purchased plugins to create an upgraded site for doingdenverforless.com. In order to re-build the site out I used a subdomain URL that was located on the same server – it was at: staging.doingdenverforless.com
Because subdomains are a property of the parent domain and the IP was the same I didn’t think I would have a problem switching it live in terms of License Key.
I went to adjust the price bar filter and it is stuck in a loading screen. Additionally, I went into settings and it says: “Sorry, this key is out of installs.”‘
Is there some type of information I have to type in to let it know that I moved it off of the staging server or can you please send me new keys for The Events Calendar Pro and all the associated Add-ons I purchased such as: The Fliter Bar, Facebook Events, and Community Events.
Any urgency on this would be very much appreciated as the new site is already live and the user experience is suffering the longer this does not get fixed.
Thanks for all your help on this in advance!!

MemberHi Adam and thanks for getting in touch!
Sorry for the trouble here. The good news is that The Events Calendar (and all add-ons) will continue to function properly without the license key–you should be good on that end. 🙂
Moving the license key from staging to production can be a little confusing but can ultimately be accomplished by:
- Delete the license key from your staging site under Events > Settings > Licenses
- Log into your account on this site
- Head to My Account > License Keys
- Click the “Disconnect” link next to the URL for each license key
- Enter the license key into your production site under Events > Settings > Licenses
- Make sure the licenses have been connected in your account
These steps are outlined in greater detail here in this article which I would also suggest reading before running through these steps.
Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

ParticipantHey Geoff,
As mentioned I built my site on a staging subdomain and then moved it over to its parent – I ran the search and replace and everything is perfect except The Events Calendar. It was only showing tags like this: [example]
The Event Calendar elements were not working at all so I assumed it had something to do with the licensing. Once I fixed the licensing on the root domain to be at doingdenverforless.com instead of staging.doingdenverforless.com it allowed me to update the plugins.
Once I updated certain elements appeared again; however, if I access an event or the main event page it basically breaks the site and times out. I did get this message on my event page in my filter bar: “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in /home/doingdenver/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Cost_Utils.php on line 163” — I’ve noticed huge usages in my server statistics as well.
Everything was working perfect on the staging until I switched this over site over to its parent URL. Nothing else has been edited or done to the site so I have no idea why this isn’t working?
Can you please check into this ASAP? I have had to go back and forth several times with this site and have pretty my bauched the launch of this site due to issues with The Event Calendar.
Thanks again for all your help in advance! Once this move is done I expect smooth sailings!

MemberHey Adam, thanks for following up!
I’m glad to hear the licensing issue has smoothed out–nice work.
Are you able to allocate more memory to PHP on your server? Check out this codex article, which will show you how to increase the memory allocated to PHP/WordPress on your site. If that still doesn’t resolve the issue, then I would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider and seeing if they can help you to increase the memory allocated to PHP on your install.
It would also be helpful if you could paste your system info in here as well (as a private reply) in case we can see any other red flags. You can find that in Events > Settings > Help at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks!

MemberHi Adam,
Man, I’m so sorry for the continued trouble here. Let’s keep digging in to see what we can do to fix this!
I see you mentioned this plugin:Â The Events Calendar Shortcode
That is actually not one of our plugins. Is it possible that deactivating that has any positive impact on the performance? I ask because some third-party developers will attempt to build extensions for our plugins (which is great!) but sometimes they do not keep up with the current codebase of the latest versions, which could certainly cause conflicts and problems like the ones we’re seeing.
Also, how many events are published–do you have a handful or are we looking at thousands? Just want to get a gauge of the load. If you have a link you are able to share where we can view the calendar, that would be helpful as well. It currently looks like that page is inaccessible.
Thanks for your patience here while we work on this with you!

MemberThanks a ton, Adam! I really appreciate the access to the site. 🙂
Wow, 11,000 events is definitely a lot but not out of the realm for what a good host can cover.
First off, were you able to deactivate that shortcode plugin? That’s the first thing I would suggest hitting before we go any deeper.
Next, I do see you are running a lot of plugins that do various things. I hate to point fingers at other plugins (and am not intending to do that here) though having lots of processes run together in addition to a large load of events can certainly bog down a host, particular one that might be on a shared hosting plan rather than a dedicated server.
Are you on a shared server? If so, it’s very possible that the amount of resources being used in the environment is simply too great for a typical shared host. I think the fact that we hit that fatal error over memory issues earlier suggests that the load is already close to the host’s breaking point.
If deactivating the shortcode plugin has no effect, then I’ll want to explore some memory-saving ideas with you–and if none of those do the trick, then I unfortunately think we’re looking at other hosting plans. But let’s start here before we go that route.
Thanks!

ParticipantIt allows for:
30GB SSD storage
400,000 monthly visitorsThey said that this would be more then enough to handle the site. There is one more upgrade for 50GB SSD and 800,000 but it is meant for 5 sites, where this is meant for 2-3 sites.
I can upgrade to the other if needed, but from what I know I do not see this to be the issue.

MemberHey Adam,
This is sounding a lot like a thread I fielded just the other day and it turned out to be a theme conflict. It was the use of shortcodes within Enfold. You’re using Avada, so I wonder if there is a similar conflict at play. Notice that the issue also became apparent only with PRO active.
Does the issue continue to take hold when you’re on a default theme? Or perhaps Avada is utilizing a similar shortcode function that is being used in the event post editor but is causing a performance issue?
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Geoff,
Thanks for checking in on this and getting back to me. I spent a good deal of time investigating again yesterday and it appears that the Events Calendar Pro caused issues to the database on the move. After the third site transfer I figured it out and got it all cleaned up so it appears to be working. I think we are all good now!
Have a great weekend!

MemberRight on and awesome work, Adam! Man, I’m really stoked to hear that worked out, though I’m sorry about all the trouble in between.
Please do keep us posted if any other questions or issues pop up and we’d be happy to help!
