Is it possible to show the featured image as a background in the calendar grid?

Hi, i’ve installed Events Calendar on a previous site and been very happy with it, my graphic designer is just creating layouts for a new site we’d like to use it with and would like to know if it is possible to show the ‘Featured Image’ as a background image on the grid calendar view.

They will all be the same size / proportion. Do you think this would be possible, and if so, could you point me in the right direction?

That’s a nice suggestion – it’s not doable out of the box but my guess is there’s a way to hack it together. Let me see if our developer Jonah has any suggestions here. I’ll get him to respond directly.

Hi Ashley, yeah this should be possible but it’s going to be a little tricky and we can’t provide a full solution. One way you could do it is modify the gridview.php template file to pull in the featured image and I would use TimThumb to dynamically handle the image resizing and then throw that into an image tag or other element that you can then target via CSS to handle the z-indexing and other styling… I hope that helps!
