ParticipantI can not seem to find a clear answer regarding support for iCal subscription format vs a manual import of events.
My client would like to be able to have users subscribe to their events via google calendar/apple calendar/outlook etc. The events should then show up automatically in the calendar of subscribers. We have been successful at allowing the import of events, but if a new event is added it is not automatically added to subscribers calendar.
Is this functionality supported by EC/ECP?
It would seem that this functionally would be important to pub/sub/hub infrastructure and allow EC/ECP to be a leader in community calendaring.
Thanks in advance!
MikeP.S. How about a section in https://theeventscalendar.com/the-events-calendar-for-wordpress-tutorials/ on RSS/ICal etc?

MemberHi Mike,
I’m not in fact a user of iCal (and can certainly rope in a team member experienced with that app if needs be) but a question that immediately comes to mind is, are you finding that supplying the iCal feed URL – the iCal import link from the upcoming events page, for instance – as the subscription URL doesn’t work?
If it does not are there any particular error messages being returned here?

ParticipantAlthough I’m a bit Apple Fan Boy that they named an application after a calendaring standard sure confuses things!
I guess what i am really looking for is .ics support
If I use that link/URL and try to subscribe via google calendar I get
“The address that you provided did not contain a calendar in a valid iCal or GData format.”

Any tips?

MemberOK, so basically (as you can probably tell from the nomenclature used in the iCal import buttons) we’ve currently got things set up to import a specific event or batch of events.
This would definitely be a worthy feature request though, if you’re game to make one:

The great advantage to UserVoice is that other users can find the suggestion and add their support – and though that’s far from the only factor in us taking up a suggestion it can provide us with a useful metric.
Thanks!

MemberGreat – well do feel free to add your voice there (if you haven’t already) as that can lend weight and assist us when we prioritize feature requests.
Thanks again – and since I think we’re all good here I’ll go ahead and close this thread.
