Participantwhen importing the iCal feed, i’m getting duplicates of all my events: http://theslowdown.com/events/ical

MemberHi jadonulrich,
Here’s what I see when I follow that URL – can you highlight the start and end lines for some examples of the duplicated content?
Thanks!

MemberThat’s strange and I’m not sure why that would happen. At the point where I captured the iCal feed for instance there was only one entry in there for Omaha Girl Rock, looking like this (I shortened the description):
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20130803T183000
DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20130804T020000
DTSTAMP:20130729T224817
CREATED:20130717T204551
LAST-MODIFIED:20130717T204727
UID:299-1375554600-1375581600@http://theslowdown.com
SUMMARY:Omaha Girls Rock
DESCRIPTION:The Showcase will feature one original song ...
LOCATION:
URL:http://theslowdown.com/event/omaha-girls-rock/Exactly why that would cause two entries is a bit of a mystery. What I can do if you bear with me is ask a colleague with iCal to test this out on their system.

MemberHey jadonulrich. I just tested this out on iCal with my Macbook, and I’m actually unable to recreate the problem you noted. When I import the calendar it looks like so: http://d.pr/i/MQ2X.
What steps are you taking to get there? I simply went:
1. File –> Import from within iCal.
2. Selected the iCal file, as downloaded from your site and currently located on my desktop.
3. Imported and reviewed the calendar to find what you see in that screenshot.Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer more. Let me know if you’ve taken other steps than I have here, or if you have any other clues I could take to recreate. Have users of the site reported this as well? Do you find the same problem occurs when you use the ical feed from http://wpshindig.com/events/ical/ ?

ParticipantI’m wondering if it may be an icloud issue that is causing the duplicate. When it first imports there is only 1 event, and then it starts adding in the duplicate event for each event.
is there a way to subscribe to the calendar instead of importing the current calendar (as version 2 had), that is really what I’m after anyway. old link was something like: webcal://www.domainname.com/?ec3_ical

Participantand yes, same thing is happening on the import for wpshindig, using your method outlined above.

MemberHey jadonulrich. Thanks for the follow-up. It’s definitely possible there is an iCloud issue, we haven’t tested the iCal integration with iCloud at all on our end. When you ask for the URL: do you mean something like http://wpshindig.com/events/?ical ?

Participantthe url I was after is:
webcal://theslowdown.com/events/?icalthat allows for “subscribing” to a calendar in ical. it also fixed the duplication issue.

MemberOK – it’s sounding like you’re all sorted here in that case so I’ll go ahead and close this thread. If I’m misunderstanding feel free to post a new request.
Thanks!
