ParticipantHi Team,
We are facing a strange issue when we are trying to add/edit recurring date on the events calendar module. We have added the event as shown in the image below:
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9140/firstinsert.jpg
Now this event should recur for 4 years from now without affecting the start date and end date of this event. But what happens is the start date and end date changes magically to +3 in this case in other cases +15 years from now, as shown in the image below:
http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/3010/listingt.jpg
Furthermore when we have tried to edit the event start and end date, the dates has been added randomly and irrelatively to whatever we have set initially.
We have tried the following to inspect the issue:
1, deactive and Uninstall all the other plugins.
2, Changed WordPress version as well downgrade and upgrade.Could you please guide us through how to fix the above issue? This is an urgent matter as we are reaching a point where we may lose our client because of this issue.
Update to the above, we have figured out that the issue is coming from adding a filter for the events calendar category, after we have removed the filter the issue stopped to occur, however the filter is very important to our client, can you please update the module and let me know asap.
Kind regards,

MemberHi Khaled,
I can’t replicate this on my own installation. Is there any further detail you can provide – which filter are you referring to?

ParticipantHi Barry,
Thanks for your response.
It’s the Events category filter which causing the issue. I’m not sure if the other filters may replicate the issue, but we need to get this sorted out by today at the earliest otherwise we will be in a very difficult situation with our client.
Let me know if you would like to check the issue yourself I may give you an access to the website backend.

MemberOK … I’m guessing you mean a filter in the sense of one of the options in the Filters & Columns meta box? If so, I still can’t replicate this. Can you distil this down to a set of steps I can follow so I can be sure I’m doing the same thing as you/your client?
If alternatively you mean a different sort of filter (such as the WordPress hook variety) again please provide the specific details and we’ll take a look.
Thanks!

ParticipantBelow are screenshots for the filters I’m talking about:

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7905/screenshot94y.png
And also see how is the dates are now set to 2027 🙁 as we set the recurrence date to 2023, it gives us this random start and end date…March 12, 2013 at 12:48 pm #42455Barry
MemberThanks Khaled.
That’s pretty much how I pictured this however I could not replicate it. Going back to the basic troubleshooting you did at the start: after deactivating all non-Modern Tribe plugins and reverting to a default theme, did you try creating a new test event at that point?
If so, did this problem manifest itself with that new event (if you didn’t try this can I ask you to do so now)?

ParticipantHi Barry,
We have checked all the scenarios including the above one, furthermore we have moved the website to another server and deleted all the events and we have created a test event, and again the issue still persist. It came to my mind as well it maybe a database corruption, writing or retrieving issue.
Let me know if you still want to get access to the website, or Would you like me to video the thing for you??

I tend to think it might be something like this; I had asked one of my colleagues to try and replicate this and shye could not either.
Are you able to create a fresh installation (so there is no trace of previous database entries) in the same or a duplicate hosting environment and see if the problem occurs there – starting with only a default theme and no other plugins, then building up to a duplicate in terms of installed components?

ParticipantHi Barry,
We have created a fresh installation for you guyz to take a look at it, kindly find below the login credentials:[REMOVED]
plus to the above issue, after we apply the Events Category filter and try to search by keywords for all the matching events, it shows only one out of 10 events which are recurring.
Kind regards.

MemberBefore I login, can you confirm this is a test/staging installation and that we have your permission (and it is safe to):
- Change settings
- Deactivate and activate plugins
- Change the theme
- Create and edit posts, etc
March 13, 2013 at 8:34 am #42539Khaled
ParticipantYes, you are free to do whatever you like. It’s a test port not related to any of our client’s work.
Please after you get the above credentials can you delete the post as it’s not safe to post it in the public?
Kind regards,

MemberGreat, thanks (credentials removed).

MemberSo I created two test events, one assigned to the only category present and one not, both events recurring annually and ending after 4 years – and I viewed the list of events with and without the event cat filter, I couldn’t see the original problem you described:
Now this event should recur for 4 years from now without affecting the start date and end date of this event. But what happens is the start date and end date changes magically to +3 in this case in other cases +15 years from now, as shown in the image below:
Can you confirm either if there is something I am misunderstanding or, if you are able to replicate the problem yourselves in this environment? Your own test event Event 1 for instance looks fine.

ParticipantHi Barry,
The issue is that when you add a filter (Event category) it shows only 1 event out of each recurring event group.
Please let me know why the filter is not showing all the events under that category.March 13, 2013 at 12:40 pm #42597Barry
MemberOK, sorry for the misunderstanding: I had thought the primary issue was that dates were being magically modified to the incorrect values.
I can definitely see the problem with only a single event being shown (for recurring events) when the category filter is in use and suspect this is a bug. I’ll check it out and see if there is anything we can do in the short term – please bear with me and I’ll update you as soon as I can.
