ParticipantI’ve added addresses for venus, but no matter what on the venue page it always displays some random spot – i.e. middle of ocean. See this venue:

The link to “google maps” does show the correct location though…
Any ideas?December 2, 2014 at 11:56 am #905459George
ParticipantHey Martin,
Sorry you’re having issues here. How are you hosting your website? Is it on a shared server, for example? This is common for any sort of major hosting website if you’re using that – and this can cause issues with Events Calendar’s maps features, since Google Maps limits usages of its Maps API by IP address. If you’re on a shared webserver, you could be using the same IP address as several other websites, and that could mean that the IP address itself has reached its usage limits.
I’m suspicious of this because of the address itself being valid, as you described – I checked out the address in Google Maps separately, and like you said, it works fine.
I’d recommend contacting your web host and inquiring about this. They may be able to move you to a virtual IP so that you have your own separate Google Maps API usage.

ParticipantHi
We are having the a similar issue. The Google Map on the Event page shows the map correctly. But clicking on the link “+ Google Map” just opens the a map of the USA.See here: http://www.fsdf.org.uk/event/fsdf-f-gas-summit/
Upgrading to version 3.9 does not resolve the issue. I think the error is linked to how the URL is encoded.
Look forward to your reply.

ParticipantI am seeing a similar issue on our site. The venue address is correct, but the ECP map displays the wrong location.
The venue is in Washington state, and the Google link points to the right place, but the map on ECP shows the venue to be in Canada (on the opposite coast, no less).

ParticipantBTW – I spot checked 10 other venues and they seem to be fine, so I’m not sure if this could be an “IP limit” issue. Would love your advice on how to correct this map issue!

ParticipantI have also checked by placing the site on a fixed IP server. Its not an IP limit issue. Looking forward to a response

ParticipantHello,
I’m sorry for the delayed response here, I hadn’t even noticed that this thread was updated since Martin hadn’t replied. I’m very, very sorry about that. This is one of several reasons we always recommend users start their own threads, but regardless of stuff like that, I could’ve checked in more recently without a notification that Martin had posted again.
With that being said, all of your input here is appreciated and this is definitely worth investigating if the API IP address limitations are not the culprit.
Since each of these issues could be different, each of you should make your own support threads so we can handle each issue appropriately. In the meantime, I’ll look into any open Maps bugs that we might have noted and planned on fixing for an upcoming release – I don’t know of any off the top of my head.
Martin: do you have any updates on your specific issues here?
Thanks all for your patience,

ParticipantThanks George; No, I do not have an update. I’ve been traveling for the past couple of weeks with very limited access to check things. I will first thing this week.
Thanks.

ParticipantHey Martin,
I’ve been out traveling for the holidays and such recently myself, so I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to get back here to followup and check-in on things – your patience means a lot.
Do you have any updates or progress here with anything? No worries if not – just wanted to check in and let you know we haven’t ignored your issue or forgotten it or anything.
Cheers and happy New Year,

ParticipantHello,
This issue’s been sitting here a while so I’m going to go ahead and close it for now – if other issues arise, don’t hesitate to come back and open a new ticket, and if you need to open a new ticket about the same issues you originally brought up here, please share a link to this original ticket so we can pick up where we left off.
Cheers!
