French translation… updated PO file – not showing on website

Hi !

I’m new to PoEdit. I’m trying to translate the string “Find events” because it doesn’t fit the button. I want to change it to only “Rechercher”.

I did change the translation to the word I want. I saved the .PO file and put it back on /lang folder on my server.

But, when I go back on my website, the previous translation is still showing up.

Did I miss a step? Why my new translation isn’t showing up?

Thanks for reaching out!

A couple of quick thoughts that may help in sorting this out:

1. When putting the file back in your /lang folder, did you have it overwrite the existing file?
2. After updating, did you try clearing your browser’s cache to ensure the content of the old files aren’t still being output.

Finally, updating this text by changing the translation file isn’t necessarily the best way to go about changing the text. The issue is that when you update the plugin, your modified file will get overwritten and you’ll lose the customization.
