GuestHello,
Since the last update, all French translation seems to be lost (but not in the admin panel) and English is displayed instead of French. For example, we can read “Past Événements” instead of “Événements précédents”, and “previous” instead of “précédents”).
I tried to modify po file, but it is already modified and to apply changes on it has no effect at all.
Thank you.

GuestI can confirm I have the same issue after the update to 3.1. My lang is Nl but on the frontend something seems to go wrong it shows English insteed of Dutch. I Checked the po file but all translations are in place.
Thanks

GuestIndeed, same here. I tried switching to French, German and back to Dutch (I noticed differences in the .po’s) but the problem is in all languages.

ParticipantHey folks,
I’m sorry to hear about your frustrations with these issues. These issues are stemming from the fact that we updated our translation files quite extensively. One example of this is that “Event” and “Events” are now only translated one time, then passed to all instances of these words instead of having to translate every instance of these words.
If that doesn’t make much sense, it basically just means that translating things should be easier and faster. But different, which is leading to the new lack of translated strings in some cases.
The best solution is unfortunately to just hope new translations for languages come in. We’re receiving them now after people are updating, and anyone is welcome to submit. New translations will be made available as soon as possible!
Thank you,

GuestThank you, George. How can I help to translate files?

ParticipantHi David,
Sorry about the delay here. We’ve just launched a whole new process for translations and have two write-ups for it here:
And here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/adding-or-updating-a-translation/Hopefully both articles will bring you up to speed on our new translations site – let us know if they do, or if you have any other questions or concerns! 🙂
Thanks,

GuestI translated some strings. Quite easy and intuitive interface.
Then I downloaded the generated po file, and even made some changes in it. I refreshed the page, but it didn’t change anything. I deleted the cache of the Navigator, and deleted the po file on the server. There was still this awful “French/English” mix. How is it possible? I deleted the file…
How to avoid this horrible language mix? This is clearly unprofessional…

ParticipantHi David,
Translations you made right on the live site will not be included in the export files until they are manually approved by an administrator. If the translation file is still incomplete, then the French/English mix could result from that.
We are working hard to approve translations as fast as we can, and while I understand your frustration and claim that this is unprofessional, I urge you to see how the new translations site is better regardless.
Let’s say we didn’t have the new translations site – all languages, including French, would be out of date anyways, because every time a plugin is updated it’s strings change. So the problem of broken translations after updates is a known and expected problem for every theme and plugin out there. Our new translation site will let us solve this faster, and instead of users having to translate whole files, they can just contribute individual strings if they’d like.
Your patience means a lot, and I can understand how frustrating this is. We made some mistakes with the French translation that we’ve recently fixed, and are now awaiting further translations to approve so we can resolve the translation and have it work for people when they use it on their site.
Please stay tuned for future updates here.
Thanks,

GuestHello!
I had a look at the french po file for The Events Calendar. All the translation as been done but many sentences are waiting to be confirm. Some of them are sentences that appears at the top of page has “Find evenements” and “Upcoming evenements”!When do you think somebody will valid the translation so that we can import it?
Thanks

ParticipantHey Thierry,
I cannot specify a time or date but we are working very hard on approving as many translations as possible and it should not be more than a few days. We will broadcast when the translations are updated.
Thanks for your patience!

GuestHi,
I’m still having trouble translating The Events Calendar to French from English. Had no problem building up the English side whatsoever.
Any Help on this?
Thanks,

GuestSame Problem in German Translation.

ParticipantHi Everyone,
There are a few separate issues being mentioned in this thread so to keep things simple, first, Kim I’m not 100% certain what you mean by your issue. Can you open a new thread, perhaps, and clarify exactly what you mean about “building up the English side”?
––––––
For all other issues reported here, namely that translations are incomplete or showing lots of English strings, this is because the .po and .mo files you are using on your site are out of date. The strings for all plugins are much different after the 3.10 update, and if you have not downloaded a fresh .po and .mo file for your language off of http://translations.theeventscalendar.com, then your old translation will not work.
If you have download a .mo or .po file off of translations.theeventscalendar.com, and still see some English strings regardless, then this just means that the language on translations.theeventscalendar.com is not fully translated yet.
Your patience as translations are updated is immensely appreciated – thank you! If you want to know how to contribute to translations, or just learn more about the new site in general, please see read two links:
