ParticipantCan’t see events in wp-admin – Database Error: Not unique table/alias
Hi all, I’ve got the “not unique table/alias” error & can’t see all the events in wp-admin. What I’ve got running:
WordPress 3.8
The Events Calendar Pro 3.3.1
No other plugins running
Active theme is Twenty Twelve ( I’ve also tested in in Twenty Fourteen )I can see all the events on the public-facing side of the site. Individual events are there, the calendar and list view both work. But if the client goes to see all events in the back-end, the table is collapsed & reads “No events found.” The events exist, as above the events table, it reads “All(12) | Published(11) | Draft(1)”.
Enabling WP_DEBUG shows this error: WordPress database error: [Not unique table/alias: ‘my_wp_postmeta’] (I can paste the whole sql error if it helps).
Any tips? I’d rather not roll back the plugin, but if that’s the workaround, I can try that. I did look at this thread: https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/missing-table-alias-causing-meta_query-to-fail/ adn tried that edit of tribe-event-query.class, but had no success. My SQL skills are not as advanced as I’d like, so my debugging in that area is not optimal.
Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Pat,
I wish I had some better news. Right now the only user who has fixed it was the one who rolled back, which is what I would recommend in your case. Our 3.4 update which also fixes this is due out very shortly, but unfortunately that is as specific as I can get in terms of a release date. If your client can wait a week and see if an update has materialized, if I were you I’d encourage them to take that risk. If not, a downgrade is in order.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience and unknowns. They are am inevitable part of software development, but I still wish I could do more. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

ParticipantBrook,
Thanks for the note. For now, the workaround to getting to a single event in the dashboard is to use the calendar view, find the event they need to edit and view it, then edit it via the admin bar. This will work for a while, hopefully long enough for an update to come out. Thanks again & I’ll watch for 3.4.Cheers!

ParticipantHi Brook,
I updated the plugin ( 3.4.1, actually ) and upon activation, I get this:
—-
Call to undefined function get_current_screen() in /nas/wp/www/mysite/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/tribe-event-query.class.php on line 279
—-
The plugin activates and I can browse the site’s public side. WP admin is unreachable, that error appearing any time I go there.WordPress 3.8.1
The Events Calendar Pro 3.4.1
No other plugins running
Active theme is Twenty TwelveCheers!

ParticipantWell that’s no good! The most concerning part is that get_current_screen() is a builtin WordPress function and has existed since version 3.1 (as you can see in that link). It is used in a wide variety of plugins from lots of developers, on my local install I see it called over 130 times (only 4 of them by Tribe developed plugins) by major plugins from WPSC to WooCommerce.
It seems likely that something has corrupted your WordPress install. To test this you will need to reinstall WordPress. Fortunately WordPress has a great guide on how to upgrade. Follow those steps, only instead of installing a more recent version (which does not exist) simply install the current version again. Make sure that when you get to the step of reinstalling plugins you redownload fresh copies of the plugins. This guide will walk you through redownloading our plugins.
I wish it was easier to trouble shoot. But I can not think of another explanation. That function is definitely definied, it is a part of WordPress. If your site thinks it is missing, WordPress must have got corrupted somehow.
Please let me know if that helps, or if anything needs further explanation. I would be glad to help.
