ParticipantI am very happy that we were able to isolate this for everyone. This last release we had some pretty big updates to our widget. We made it a bit leaner so that it runs faster, we added some features, and ended up having to change our API to suit all of this. You can read more about the impact this has on your existing theme overrides here, in section 6.
You might notice that the article “Change you should be made aware of” is a new series for us. We are going to start releasing just such an article each time we update the API. In addition, we are investigating more ways to try and reach out to developers and let them know of changes when a major update comes along. If you have any feedback for us, please let me know!
Ultimately this is not something “we are releasing a fix for”. To be compatible with the 3.6+ API your theme overrides will need to updated as outlined in that link.
John, if you no longer have any more questions would you mind marking this topic resolved? Thanks!

ParticipantBrook,
Can you maybe spell things out a little clearer as to what users need to do in order to fix this issue on their own? Like the OP, my Events List widget suddenly changed, showing a bullet point, then the name of the current page and the current time underneath that.
I tried removing all widgets, replacing with text widgets, and then replacing again with TEC widgets — no dice. I even uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled it, just in case; still no dice.
However, when I rename the “tribe-events” folder to “tribe-events-bak”, the Events List widget works perfectly — but then on any Event pages, the styling is all messed up. Is there a file I should isolate somehow, or code I should alter (and if so, what does that code need to be)?
I appreciate you helping spell it out for us who are maybe less well versed in writing custom PHP. Thanks! 😉June 7, 2014 at 3:39 am #211040johnnytequila
ParticipantBig thanks to Brook and graphicscoop! Mine is now working and it was indeed the theme override which when renamed got the List Event working, then by removing the widgets/list-widget.php file I was able to remove the ‘-bak’ previously added to the override folder and the Events List still shows up as it should. Fortunately I don’t need to (at the moment) edit that .php file so removing it isn’t a problem but this may not be the case for everyone or myself in the future. This is a great plugin and suits my purposes very well but I can see that to really customise it how I want I’m either going to have to learn PHP or pay someone to get under the bonnet. Either way, current issue of Event List not working is now sorted, thanks again!

ParticipantThank you johnnytequila. I am glad you got it working.
Artmildesign, the process will be different for each person. But, that link I posted gives you a nice overview of what has changed. Knowing what has changed will help you to adapt your customization. Here is a quote from the link:
The process for doing list widget overrides has changed. We’ve also made some pretty significant changes to the list widget template files, so that all HTML markup (as well as the loop) is now included in the template files for you to customize. If you have any overrides to the list widget files (for either CORE or PRO), then you’ll definitely want to update your overrides to incorporate our latest changes in order for your widgets to be working properly. As a reminder, here are the List Widget template files for CORE & PRO:
- Â CORE:Â views/widgets/list-widget.php
- PRO:Â views/pro/widgets/list-widget.php
Finally, if you’re running PRO, you’ll notice that we’ve also split out the ‘Related Events’ into their own template file. So, now you can override that view as well if needed!
- PRO:Â views/pro/related-events.php
If you need anything else Artmil please feel free to open a new topic. Since the OP, Johnny, has marked this topic resolved it will now be closed. We do our best to keep our issues down to one topic per user that way each user is guaranteed individual attention for their specific problem. If you do end up opening a new topic, please write in your own words what the problem is instead of just linking here. That helps us be 100% sure that there are no subtle differences between you and others. Thanks!
