ParticipantI read the other posts. Sorry but still having trouble.
Even tried opening the zip file and moving files manually and it’s not working.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Kristy,
When you unzip the zip, you should get a folder with the same name as you see when you browse wp-content/plugins via FTP. You are connecting via FTP right? So for example, if you unzip you should get a folder names ‘events-calendar-pro’ with all the files and folders for the plugin in it. You need to drag and drop all those files and folder into the same folder on your server in wp-content/plugins, replacing everything. Optionally, you can just rename the folder on the server to ‘events-calendar-proOLD’ and it will deactivate that version and you can keep that as a backup. Then just upload the new version and then you’ll have two versions in your plugin list but just hover over the activate link and look in the browser status bar to see which one is the “OLD” plugin and which one is the new. Then, activate the new one and verify everything looks ok.
I hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Jonah,
Ok I got the file unzipped and placed it in the plugins file via ftp. Since it was just the Pro part I didn’t think there was a need to back up the old version of Pro. (did this before reading your message!)Now it’s all up to date, but I had additional fields set and they are all gone. I can replace those, but wondering why that happened.
And more importantly the calendar won’t display correcty when viewing an event “location”. I’m kind of bummed on that. It’s a child of Twenty Ten. In the parent theme it does display ok.
Here is a look:

ParticipantHi Kristy,
There is an outstanding bug with custom fields where they get wiped out from the administration area. All the data is actually still there but you’ll need to re-create the fields manually. They need to be the same labels too so hopefully you remember them. Sorry about the trouble with that.
For the location page it looks like you’ve got some funky HTML/CSS for the view. I would suggest trying to revert to the default view file for this instead of your custom one. You can do this by renaming the ‘single-venue.php’ file in the ‘events’ folder in your theme to ‘single-venue.phpOLD’. Then the plugin will use the stock version of the view for this page.
Let’s see how that works for you.

ParticipantHi Jonah,
just for the record. I didn’t change any of your plugin’s files. I don’t have custom view files. Is it the css in the style.css you are talking about? I’m pretty new at this so it’s very possible I have something funky in there. Can you be more specific so I know where to start?

ParticipantHi Kristy,
Oh, ok. It looked like you did because there appeared to be some extra HTML in there but it could also be an unclosed tag somewhere else caused by something else. Actually I see what it is now. You’ve got the map HTML inside one of the venue meta tags somehow. This is probably caused by an unclosed tag somewhere else. It might be from another plugin or your theme. Can you try deactivating all other plugins to see if that helps? If not, try reverting to the Twenty Eleven/Twelve theme for a moment to see if that helps.
Let me know how that goes,

ParticipantI just checked it in Twenty Ten with no other plugins and this view is still broken, exactly the same as in my child.
I can’t leave it up for you to see cuz site is live.
Here is an image http://www.anandamaine-newhampshire.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/broken-view.jpgI have this same situation on two sites. Thanks for your help.

ParticipantHi Kristy,
I’m going to have to dig a bit deeper on this to figure out what’s going on. Can you provide me wp-admin and FTP access so I can look at some things? You can email to pro [at] tri [dot] be and attn. to me.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Kristy,
You have custom HTML input for the venue to display much of it’s information as you can see here: http://cl.ly/image/0q2E1x1Y0W0R
If you want to go this route, you will need to customize the HTML and CSS yourself. Otherise, remove all the custom HTML and use the native plugin features for displaying the info and it should look much better out of the box.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Jonah,
I removed the embed code for the map and even the tags. There is no “custom html” in the description now. The description text is still not displaying correctly and even though the “Enable Google Maps” in settings is NOT ticked, the google map displays and the venue view is still broken.I also disabled all plugins but yours and ran it in twenty ten stock. I’m leaving it that way for a couple of hours so you can see it.

This view takes forever to load and the wordpress admin bar is either slow coming or not coming at all. I still don’t see it.All this, plus loosing my additional fields by simply upgrading to this version is a bit of a bummer. If the bugs in this plugin can’t be fixed now, I’m ok with that if I can revert to an older version pair and move on.
This site is live and I need to get this handled right away. Thank You for all your help. Let me know what is best to do.
In case i need to restore back to my child theme before you get a chance to see this live, here is an image http://www.anandamaine-newhampshire.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Broken-Calendar-Venue.jpgJanuary 21, 2013 at 12:47 pm #31298Kristy
ParticipantSorry about including that tag in my comment!

ParticipantHi Kristy,
This is how the default Venue view actually looks and if you want it to look different you will need to modify some of the PHP and CSS to get it the way you want.
The “Enable Google Maps” setting is not a global setting to turn maps on or off but rather a preliminary setting that ultimately controls whether or not the setting shows up for individual events. To change whether or not the map shows for individual events or venue’s you’ll again need to modify the templates.
Sorry for the confusion here. Does that help?

ParticipantSo there was a change to something about the Venue view in this last update or two? I don’t remember having this problem in 2.08.
January 22, 2013 at 7:30 am #31348Jonah
ParticipantHi Kristy,
No, we have not changed the venue view for some time now. Something else must have changed on your website to cause this.
Is there anything else I can help you with here?
