I’m opening this thread since the last question relevant to this topic was posted over a year ago. I’d like to embed the calendar / event listing on a subpage (site.com/subpage/events) instead of a top-level page (site.com/events). I’m not advocating removing the custom slug feature, but I don’t understand why there isn’t an option to select a Parent Page. Having to embed php is time consuming and problematic – especially for a premium plugin. Am I missing a simple work-around?

    Hi,

Thanks for using our plugins and unfortunately, there is no simple work around to add a slug to the url. The issue is that the Events Calendar Views (months, lists, photo, etc) are considered by WordPress to be an Archive so by default WordPress does not consider those to have hierarchy as it is not a page it is an archive. So adding a slug before events is possible, but would involve creating a custom solution to get around WordPress’s defaults.

We are interested in working to create a shortcode so this would not be an issue, but there is no timetable on if or when that may come out.

One way to get around this is to change the events slug to something else. Then using the category links to view the events. As the categories create a slug like this(concert is the category):

    yoursite.com/events/concert/

I will gladly try to answer answer questions you have about this, but there is not much else we have beyond that.

    Thanks

Thanks for the super fast response! Always great customer service…
I’m aware of the shortcode feature to be added soon, and I’m excited for it. Too bad this won’t work, although I know it works on other plugins I’ve used (including a free version), despite still having multiple view options and archive listings of previous events. In the meantime, I’ll just wait for the short code.

Ok sounds good. Would love to have a simple solution for you and the support team is looking out for topics like yours to forward to the dev team so that know our customers are requesting it and can get on it 🙂

Since there is nothing more we can do here. I am going to close this ticket, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please post a new topic on the forum and we can help you out.

    Thanks
