Hi. The WordPress Facebook plugin does correctly display the time when you are in a different time zone from your event. For example, I am on the East Coast, but I am setting up a bunch of events in LA. Facebook allows one to designate the time zone of the events, but when they import into WP, they report the NY time. In other words, if an event takes place at 7pm in LA, it reports the event as 10pm in WP and hence on my website. Is this a known issue? Can it please be fixed? Thanks! Andrew

So that sounds like the correct and expected behaviour to me: if you are first and foremost delivering information via your site about events in LA it may be best to adjust your server and/or WordPress settings to reflect that that is effectively the timezone you are operating in.

If that’s not true though and only some events are taking place in LA and others in a different location/timezone you’re best bet is probably going to be manually modifying the imported events.

    Does that clarify things?

So, yes, I am doing events in multiple time zones. Facebook accounts for this by allowing you to set the time zone of the event when you record the event. My request (feature request?) is that the Events Calendar FB plugin be able to read this information and import the events accordingly into the right time for the time zone in which they take place. It is just such manual corrections which I am hoping to avoid — and which is why I purchased the plug-in in the first place.

    Hope you understand,
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I definitely understand that – and would recommend posting a feature request here (or else add your support to any suitable existing requests).

Facebook Events aside, though, at this time The Events Calendar itself doesn’t natively support events in multiple timezones, so for truly smooth integration this would require changes to more than just Facebook Events itself: not that it’s impossible by any means, but just to indicate that it is not absolutely trivial to solve.

Please do post your request on UserVoice though – we’ll definitely look into it 🙂
