Eventbrite import – 414 Request-URI Too Large

I’m attempting to import an event (ID: 8059164177) and I get the 414 error, Request-URI Too Large. It happens with most of my events. Any help would be great.

Hi, monkeeboy. I’m sorry to hear that you’re getting this error.

We’ve heard from another user recently that there may be a limit to the amount of content that the Eventbrite API is willing to pass along. Would it be possible for you to try importing an event with a shorter description and seeing if that works for you?

Other events have worked and there seems to only be a handful that aren’t working.

I would assume so. Is it just because how the eventbrite wordpress plugin is pulling in information? It looks like it is pulling everything in as params in the url so any long description would break it. I feel like it is an issue with how the plugin is importing the info. Are you aware of a solution or is my only option to use shorter descriptions?

Hi, monkeeboy. Eventbrite recently updated their API, and with our upcoming release, we’ve modernized the way we interface with it.

I’d recommend that you see how things go after the next maintenance release of our plugins. After that, I’d love to hear if you’re able to import the events with longer descriptions.

Hi, monkeeboy. It looks like there hasn’t been a change with the latest plugin because of a limitation on the Eventbrite API.
