ParticipantHi,
I have multiple events on the same day. They seem to be listed based on the order in which they were created. How do I go about having them listed in event time order please? Thanks

ParticipantHi, alexhammerstein. Great question! 🙂
As far as my testing goes, I can’t make events display out of order, with regard to start time. I have heard of issues where users have fixed it by resetting their database. I’d also recommend testing with all other plugins disabled and a default WP theme activated in case there’s a conflict causing the odd odering.
It’s hard for me to offer more concrete advice without being able to see your site, but I hope that helps give you ideas! 🙂 Please let us know how it goes!

ParticipantHi. Ok I have uploaded the site and the calendar can be viewed at http://www.modburyteam.org/whats-on/2014-03/
if you look at any of the dates with multiple items on, you will see that they are to of order. I did try by disabling the plugs-ins one at a time, but no joy. Not quite sure what you mean by resetting the database :0
ThanksFebruary 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm #109261Kelly
ParticipantHi, alexhammerstein. Thanks for uploading your site. That’s very useful. 🙂
As far as I see, in your default view, all the events are showing in the correct order. Would you mind letting me know a specific day and view where you’re seeing the behavior?

ParticipantHi Kelly. We are seeing different things then. In Month view, if you look at March 2014, on Sunday 2nd March, the services are not in the right order. Also if you look at any of the days where there is more than 1 item, if you mouse over the items you will see that they do not follow a chronological order.
i then switched to List view, and selected 02.03.14 and got some really odd results. At the top of the page I had an item 5ht March 2014, then one from 2nd March 2014, Then there were items from April 2014, then reverting back to March 2014.
I did take some screenshots, but can’t see a way of attaching them to this post.
Regards
Alex

ParticipantHi, alexhammerstein. It sounds like what we’re looking at is some kind of caching issue then. All of the events in the month view are showing in chronological order in my browser.
Not to overstate the obvious, but have you tried things like deleting your browser’s cache?

ParticipantHi. yes we have tried all of the usual issues. Its really odd. Have tried it now on 6 different computers using a variety of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and IE; some of which have never been anywhere near the web site so cache is not a problem. All showed the same behaviour.
If you go to http://www.modburyteam.org/whats-on/ you will see all events in Month view. On the first occasion, the events will be in correct order based on start time. Move to next Month and then back again. Events will now be in apparent random order (but I think its based on entry sequence.
Do the same in list view, and exactly the same happens. First view all appears Ok, Goto next month and then back again, and the events are all over the place.
Help !!!!

ParticipantHi, alexhammerstein. Thanks for the reply. I had an emergency come up today which has delayed my reply, but I’ll get back to you tomorrow.
I really appreciate your patience! 🙂

ParticipantHi, alexhammerstein. I definitely see what you’re talking about. I’m going to raise this issue with some of my teammates to see if we can figure out what’s going on.
In the meantime, I just realized that although you responded about deactivating other plugins, I’m not sure whether or not this behavior still happens with a default theme like Twenty Twelve activated. Did you have a chance to test that way?
Thanks so much! 🙂

ParticipantHi Kelly
We are using 2013, but i haven’t had any time to actually test the plugin with an out of the box default theme. If its of any interest or use, I did try it with all of the other plugins deactivated and the issue was still there, but that’s not quite the same as using it with a clean theme, but probably a more realistic scenario.
Wait to hear from your collaguesMarch 6, 2014 at 10:32 am #115840Barry
MemberHi! Kelly’s had to step away for the day so I’ll try my best to assist here.
Thanks for trying those steps – unfortunately I can’t replicate and the correct order is maintained even across ajax loads (when you page forward a month and back again) so I’m wondering if your theme is indeed the missing link here. Can you the complete steps referenced by Kelly – deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default theme – and see of that resolves this?
Let us know – thanks!

ParticipantRight so Kelly sees the issue, but you can’t – does that not say something? What is different on Kelly’s machine and yours – as its clearly showing up on multiple machines when we look.
Have you tested this plugin with the default WordPress 2013 theme, as that’s what we are using. I can confirm that when I switch off all the plugins on the live site and test, I still get the problem, but then that is not a theme out of the box.
Kelly said that she was raising the issue with her colleagues – what was the result. I am sorry if this sounds a little dour, but I am getting the feeling that I am having to do all the chasing.

Unfortunately Kelly isn’t around for me to confirm due to circumstances outside of her or our control (though I certainly will do so as soon as I can), but my reading was that she could see the problem on your site, not on her own – hence her request that you try things out with a default theme. Ordinarily, if we can replicate ourselves on a stock install – and it looks like a legitimate bug – we’d deal with it as such and let you know that we would be progressing it as such immediately.
Have you tested this plugin with the default WordPress 2013 theme, as that’s what we are using.
Yes, that is what I tried. I’m sorry if I misunderstood, but prior to taking over this thread I noticed you had stated:
We are using 2013, but i haven’t had any time to actually test the plugin with an out of the box default theme.
And that seemed to imply that although you are using 2013 it is not without some modification – added to which the link you shared http://www.modburyteam.org/whats-on/2014-03/ doesn’t lead me to a site that appears to be running a stock Twenty Thirteen installation. If I did indeed misunderstand, please accept my apologies.
Kelly said that she was raising the issue with her colleagues – what was the result. I am sorry if this sounds a little dour, but I am getting the feeling that I am having to do all the chasing.
The result is that I took over this thread and made my own assessment – which was that this seems to be specific to your installation and that you did not seem to have run through our complete troubleshooting steps. At this point then, based on your feedback, it seems like that may have been incorrect. I appreciate further delay is going to be frustrating for you, but that’s where we are at. For the avoidance of further doubt can you confirm that you still see this problem:
- With a default and unmodified copy of Twenty Thirteen
- With no other plugins running except The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO
- That those two plugins are current and up-to-date
I can definitely assure you we want to help and we don’t want to go around in circles any more than you do, but I do hope you understand the source of confusion and can confirm the current situation. We’ll definitely then do what we can to move this forward.
Thanks!
