Event Search Results – a default view

Does it more make sense to use list view when people use “Find Event” with keyword search regardless what they use for a view mode? For example, I made the default view “Monthly Calendar View”. I tried to search “Convocation” and an error message said “There were no results found for “convocation” this month. Try searching next month.”. Of course, the convocation is on September so I needed to move on to September to search it. My sense is that users might not know when that event happens so the list view might be an ideal view. What do you think?

Hi Takuya,

I definitely see your point about the search. It really depends on your site, how many events you have, and who your users are. It definitely might make sense to make list view the default so that when people search they find all events with a keyword. You can always set the Calendar View as another option so customers can switch if they prefer that. However, there isn’t a way of forcing search results to display on a certain view, except for disabling all the other views. There’s a chance you could do that with some customizing, but that would be outside our scope of support. Does that answer your questions?

Yes. It is purely a suggestion. I don’t expect anything immediately from you guys. It’s just that people expect to see “the list” when they search stuff – like Google search. When I first searched events on the monthly calendar view with a keyword, I thought nothing happened but it actually displayed events only with my keyword on the calendar, which was a bit awkward.

Anyway, such a great plugin. love it!
