    Hi there,
Is there an easy way to STOP events being archived/removed from the event list? My client would like to do this manually if possible.

    Thanks!

Hi David, I’d just like to be sure I understand the problem correctly.

Are you referring to the limit on the number of events listed per page (when in list view) or do you mean something else?

Hi Barry, no, here’s a scenario which might help…

My client sets up an event that is recurring but only wants to display this event ONCE in the event list, the other events are shown in the calendar view but hidden from the list. The first event is displayed in the list, however when the date of that even has passed, the event is removed from the list (archived). This means that none of the events are being displayed & the user has to manually display the next event (by unticking the ‘Hide from event list’ box)… which can be tricky if they are not in the office all the time.

Basically, I wondered if it was possible to stop events from being archived, so when the date of each event has passed – they remain in the event list to be manually removed by admin later.

    Does this make sense?
    Thanks.
    d.

Another quick question to add to the above, I know this plugin is specifically for ‘Events’ but is it possible to change the custom post type to another type, ie: classes.

    thanks.

OK, so with regards to the first problem, I think what you are describing is simply the normal process whereby the upcoming event list only shows events on or after the date you visit it. Normally of course future recurring events *will* be visible in this list, but if I am understanding you correctly then you have already made some customizations that prevent this?

If that sounds correct, would an approach where the start date of the upcoming events list is pushed back an appropriate length of time work from your perspective?

Regarding changing the custom post type from events to classes: anything is possible but this would definitely not be the sort of thing we would support.

Hi Barry & thanks, that does sound like an option & I’m sure would work for my client. I’m not sure how one would go about achieving this though!

Whilst we have made some customizations, we have hidden the *future* recurring events using the ‘Hide From Upcoming Events List’ option in the Event Options’ panel.

If you bear with me a little longer I’ll check in with our developers.

I’m not sure of what sort of event data is typical in your scenario, but there are certainly some probable drawbacks with the strategy I suggested.

Hi again David – thanks for your patience so far.

So after chatting about this with the team I’m afraid I would have to say that this is just too specific a customization for us to be able to help you out.

I’ve no doubt it is possible to do what you want, but it would require a lot of further thought and consideration. It may be that you could contract another developer to help you out with this?

On this occasion though I am afraid we will have to bow out.

Sorry we couldn’t offer up more here, David. If we can offer up any other tips to point you in the right direction or if you have any other questions on integration/bug-related issues, please do let us know. We really appreciate your support.
