Tony
MemberHello,
When I try to import an event, I put in the event number and press the “Go” button. A red box appears at the top reading:
An error occurred while contacting Eventbrite. Please review your information and try again.
Error: couldn\’t connect to hostAugust 1, 2012 at 3:14 pm #23065Tony
MemberHave you seen this error before? Could there be some server settings which need to be changed?
I’m also unable to register my license key as I get an error saying that your servers are not contactable. Could be because of a firewall on the server. Have you any idea which addresses I should ask my server administrator to whitelist?
Thank you,

MemberHey Tony. Thanks for the note here, and my apologies for the inconvenience you’re faced with so far. This is an odd issue…I haven’t encountered this at all in my testing with the plugin and didn’t see it when I just tested again now either.
Have you had problems with your internal firewall before? Does this same thing occur when you try on a browser outside that firewall (if you have access to one)? It sounds like there are two separate issues here, both with the same general cause – the site being unable to communicate outside itself. Does this sound right?
Let me know. If you can confirm as much, I can get our devs to take a look and get you the addresses (as that hasn’t come up before and I don’t have it handy). Thanks in advance and for your patience so far.

MemberHello Rob,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The problem is that our hosting server has a firewall that blocked all outgoing connections, as you guessed. We disabled it and have now managed to register the plugin and import events from eventbrite. We would like to turn it back on and whitelist the address(es) used to communicate with the eventbrite servers. If you could find these for us that would be great! Thanks again for your help,
Kind regards,

MemberGotcha – thanks for confirming, Tony. Glad to hear you found a temporary workaround. As requested I’ll get the devs to take a look and see if they can get you what you need here. Just to set expectations, it may not be until Monday given that we’re down a man on support this month.
Thanks for your patience and apologies for the inconvenience until then. Let me know if I can do anything else in the interim.

ParticipantHi, Tony! Hopefully I can help you out with your question…
The API URL that we are hitting with wp_remote_get() is http://www.eventbrite.com/xml/, which returns the IP Address 66.152.109.110. Is that the information you need? Let me know if you’re asking for something else or if that doesn’t solve your problem. Thanks for using The Events Calendar, I hope you’re otherwise having a great experience.August 8, 2012 at 7:51 am #23431Rob
MemberHey again Tony. Just wanted to follow-up here to see if Paul’s answer made sense, or if you need anything else from us? Please let me know if so or if we’re in a position where we can now close this thread out. Cheers.

MemberHey Tony: sounds like we’re all good here, right? As it’s been two weeks since the last exchange I’m going to assume we’re set here and am closing the thread out accordingly. If I’m wrong and you’re still having issues, open a new thread and we’ll take a look from there. Cheers!
