ParticipantHey Jeff,
Sorry you’re having some trouble here!
1. Can you clarify what things are showing up as duplicates in your dropdown? And where? Do you mean just Venues, or just Organizers, or both? Do you mean in the Community Events submit form? What dropdown are you referring to by “my dropdown”?
2. What version of The Events Calendar is active on your site?
3. What version of Community Events is active on your site?
4. What version of WordPress are you running? Thanks!

ParticipantHi George
The events calendar 3.11.2
Community 3.11
Wordpress 4.2.4The “dropdown” list is for saved organizers. Both Community events submit (new event) form and the backend submit form show the same organizer name multiple times. IE one for each time the organizer submits an event. my question is – is this default behaviour?
cheers

MemberHi Jeff,
George is out today, but I can help keep this moving along.
If a person submits an event and adds a new organizer each time instead of selecting an existing one it would duplicate them. Do you think that is what is happening here?
Let us know.
Thanks

ParticipantYep thanks. I’ll need to attach a small note to users to users not to re-enter.

ParticipantHey Jeff,
Thanks for the update – I see this thread is marked as “Resolved”, is adding the small note like you mentioned the solution you’re going to proceed with for now?
Let us know if that’s the case and/or if there’s anything else I can help with!
Cheers,

ParticipantYes – Maybe the default value “Use New organizer” alongside the label “Use Saved organizer” is throwing them off. We know it’s an “option” but they may think it’s an instruction? Maybe a blank default option field would be better – is that possible? Meanwhile I’ll manually remove and re-enter the duplicated values using one saved instance.

ParticipantBTW George, my users don’t see the backend. I am using the Community plugin.

ParticipantSorry about the extra posts here! I gather that custom fields available in TEC pro don’t show up on Community? If this is so any pointers to how I can edit the community submit form? Background: I got the EDD plugin to adapt for adding Attendees. It is way too top-heavy for the job so I’m building a formidable form for the job but I will need to link to it from the community event submit/edit form.
cheers-

ParticipantHey Jeff,
No worries about the extra posts here! I’m glad I asked whether things were resolved or not – wanted to field any extra questions like this! 🙂
Editing the Community Events submission form is indeed possible, and yes, at this time it is unfortunately what would be required to both add custom fields from Events Calendar Pro and to add custom labels around the organizers section of the form.
We have a whole guide about how to customize Events Calendar views, which you can find here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
The same principles apply to all of the calendar add-ons, from Events Calendar Pro to Community Events and all of our ticketing add-ons, etc.
I hope that article gets you started here!

ParticipantOK – I was overthinking it! Advanced customization looks like a minefield but I can’t see why I can’t use organizers as attendees with a bit of re-labelling and push the organizer (I only have 1 per event) into venue. I need to find a way to list these organizers (now attendees) and export as csv grouped by events (1:m) but I’ve probably strayed enough off-topic for now. Back to the research.
thanks for your friendly support. I’ll be back.August 18, 2015 at 7:41 am #996975George
ParticipantHey Jeff,
I’m glad you’ve come up with a master scheme here! 🙂 Best of luck implementing it and if you have any other questions, concerns, etc., open a new thread any old time and we’ll help you out promptly.
Cheers, and good luck with the site!
