ParticipantI am asking this question with a view to future-proofing my events calendar event submission set-up and user workflows with respect to Community Events.
My site is going to accept event listings from small business owners who will be listing their webinars. A lot of the webinars are going to be about social media and using social media and other tools to improve your business. So for example, someone will list their webinar as “How to Kill it with FaceBooks Ads” or “How to use Google Analytics”
Here’s the problem…. I can envision in the future, someone wanting to submit events with the same name. Do you have any tips for how I can set up my system to make this less likely? Is there some way I could use a custom field or some workaround to make event names more flexible?
I would hate to have someone list a webinar called “How to Kill it with Facebook Ads” in June 2016, and then lets say 12 months later, in June 2017 a different user want to submit an event with the same event title. My hunch is that the 2nd user would not be able to use their event name of choice and be forced to change their event name, when their webinar is probably already developed and named and changing the name just to get it in my system would irritate them.
If you have any suggestions for system set up I should do now to avoid or minimize this in the future, please let me know. I don’t have a good grasp on how the events calendar database tables are set up so its hard for me to know what implications this “duplicate event name submission” issue might have, so if there are implications you think I should know about, please let me know.
Thanks!

MemberHi Alison. Thanks for your thorough question. Are you saying that the Community Events form is currently not allowing a new Event to be created if it’s given the same exact Event Title as a previously-published event?

ParticipantHi Cliff!
Well I’ll be darned! I checked it by creating 2 events with the same name and the system allows it. And it works great by appending a number to the event that shows in the file name, but doesn’t display to the end user.
Sorry to have troubled you with this! It turns out I didn’t need to worry after all.
Thanks and have a great rest of the weekend.
