Hi. We love your plugins and are currently using The Events Calendar, TEC PRO, Community Events, and Filter Bar on our site that is currently under development. We will be launching soon and want to customize many of the default terms that are used.

From searching past topics here, it appears that one way to do this (at least previously) was to:
    1) Take the .pot file from each plugin’s /lang/ directory and import that into a translation editor program, such as Poedit.
    2) “Translate” the respective strings to the revised terms.
    3) Export the .mo and .po files for the language (in our case we’re in the USA, so the files would end with “en_US.mo” and “en_US.po” respectively.
    4) Upload the .mo and .po files to their respective /lang directory for each plugin, with the new file automatically overriding the existing default English (USA) language that TEC uses.

Is this process still recommended for USA-based clients that want to change many of the terms used in TEC? Or is there a better way of changing many terms?

    Thank you for any advice.

    Howdy Karly,

That’s still a good method. One alternate method would be this tutorial. That tutorial is ideal for changing a string or two, but it does get a bit unwieldy if you plan to change a lot of strings.

Does one of those options sound like a good fit?

    Hi Brook,

We have a lot of terms to change, so looks like the .mo/.po method is still the way to go. Thanks for confirming!

    Best,
    Karly

Sounds good. Yeah if I were in your shoes I think I would go that route too.

    Thanks for reporting back!
