David
MemberI’d like an event to be only Thursdays and Fridays each week. However, when I set that up the event appears every day. If I click update again it appears multiple times every day. I can send screen shots of what it looks like if you need to.

MemberHi David – it would be great if you could send some screenshots, in particular of the settings for event recurrence.
Please either upload them to an image sharing service then drop the link in here, or else send them to us by email (pro@tribe, marking the email for my attention and including a link to this thread – note that we’ll continue the conversation here, that’s just a way of delivering the images).

http://infinitysc.org/calendar.jpgIt gets even crazier if I update the settings later (each day has more than 5 instances of the event). Let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.

MemberOK – I think this is a quite common mistake where the End Date/Time is the same as the end date for the recurrence pattern (you’ve set both to 2013-02-22).
The start and end dates for the event should be for the first event only (normally the same date, unless each event actually is several days in length).
Does that help/make sense?

MemberBarry, thanks for your help. That seemed to do the trick. I’m now getting a “This event has passed” error when I go to view the details of my event. We are using a custom developed theme which seems to be the problem. Given that the developer who created the theme is long gone it’s left to me to get it working. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look at to see what is affecting the events plug-in?

MemberUnless you know this is directly linked to the theme (ie, it doesn’t happen if you switch to Twenty Twelve/Twenty Eleven) then it could be caused by something else.
I can’t find your events calendar on infinitysc.org … can you point me to a URL where I can see this, and perhaps also provide a screenshot of the event settings (date/times and recurrence pattern)?

MemberIt seems that it is related to our custom theme. I switched to Twenty Eleven and it does not show “the event has passed” message. You can see it here: http://infinitysc.org/events/
I know it’s not your job to help with theme issues. But if you have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot I would appreciate it.

MemberOne thing that crosses my mind is, does your theme contain template overrides (ie, does it have a sub-directory called events filled with one or more custom templates)?
If so, it’s not impossible that they were developed for an earlier version of The Events Calendar and are not up to date. If that was the case then as an interim measure you could simply delete that directory (or rename to events__unused or similar) so that the default templates are used in their stead.
Does that help at all, or is that not relevant in this case?

MemberThere does not seem to be a custom sub-directory called “events” or any template overrides that I can find. Anything else I can try?

MemberI’m a bit puzzled, it certainly sounds like your theme is the culprit though. Can you send a copy over (as a .zip file so I can take a quick look? Send to [email protected] and mark the email for my attention. Please also include a link back to this thread) … I can’t guarantee anything but I’ll certainly do a quick check and see if I can replicate this using your theme and if there are any straightforward fixes.

MemberThanks so much for taking a look. I sent the email this morning. Hopefully it’s fairly obvious what’s wrong.

MemberHi David,
I set up the theme you sent across and do not see this problem locally – perhaps that’s because there is some setting or even widget I need to enable, or perhaps there is more than one conflict, however it does unfortunately make this quite tricky to troubleshoot.
Are there any other specifics you can think of that might let me replicate this?
February 14, 2013 at 3:43 pm #32700David
MemberJust to confirm – you do not see any “The event has passed” message when you click on an event link from the /events page? Even with the theme I sent you enabled?
February 15, 2013 at 7:57 am #32740Barry
MemberExactly.
I can click through from either the calendar or upcoming events list view to a single event and (with the obvious exception of events that are actually in the past) I do not see the _This event has passed_ message.

MemberSo, let me try removing everything from the plug-in and reinstalling. What are the tables that I should remove to make sure the plug-in is completely gone?
