Good afternoon – I just installed the Filter Bar Add on, which has been working perfectly for me [along with the Events Cal]. I have an odd issue I was hoping to get some guidance on. After our organization hosts a webinar event, we typically release summary materials, including a video capture of the webinar. Based on user feedback, it seems that people find it easiest to go back to the calendar to look for event archives…specifically webinars that have recordings.
To address this, I created a custom link that lives at the top of the Events Calendar called “Webinar Recordings”. If a user clicks that link, all of the previous events that have been added to the “Webinar Recording” category are displayed…but it’s a long list and there’s no way to narrow the results.
I’m curious if there’s a way to add some functionality to the Filter Bar to allow a user to filter for past events by type [so, the category “past webinar”] and then to filter that down by tag [for example, a specific topic].
It seems the filter bar is limited to only displaying upcoming events. I guess I’m looking for some option I can add that points the search/filter to past events…like a toggle to “include past events in search” or similar.
Thanks for any help or guidance!

We are preparing an update for Filter Bar that will be revealed within a matter of weeks that should allow you to sort through your webinars a bit better. It will allow for child and grandchild categories and tags. So within your webinars, you could have Category A as a child, Category B, etc. If you want to start preparing for that update by creating child and grandchild categories, you’ll be able to take advantage of that refined sorting sooner.
Thanks

Good news – you can give our Release Candidate for Filter Bar a try now. Please go to https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/ and scroll to the bottom of the downloads list.
Thanks

What I need to do is add a single filter that will pull up Past Events. What I’m hoping to accomplish is to have a custom filter option, similar to the Featured Events filter, but instead of “show featured events only”, I want “show past events only”.
You can see what I have at http://www.asdwa.org/events
I need a custom filter that pulls up this display:

I do see now what you are looking to achieve. Unfortunately, we don’t have a customization on file for that at this time. I have forwarded this idea on to the team that creates our Extensions library. Your work around link in the text at the top does seem like a very useful idea.
For now, can you leave this idea at http://tribe.uservoice.com.
Thanks
