    Hi,

We’ve got a WordPress site at http://localfutures.org that uses the Events Calendar PRO plugin. It seems that every time we try to update a page that uses the plugin, the memory of the site spikes uncontrollably and the site crashes. We usually see the following error message as well:

“The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.4.18 (Unix) mod_hive/6.5 OpenSSL/1.0.1e-fips mod_fastcgi/2.4.6 Server at http://www.localfutures.org Port 80”

I’ve attached a graph of the memory usage of the site and noted the times when we tried to make updates.

Any help with debugging this issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also we’re aware of the conflict testing procedure, so we’ll go through that first: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/?utm_medium=plugin-tec&utm_source=helptab&utm_campaign=in-app

Good evening Mark and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the server being overloaded while simply trying to update an event. Yikes!

I would love to help you with this topic.

You are correct, I would recommend the testing for conflicts procedure.
Some plugins sometimes conflict with ours or somehow become memory hogs tied to actions related to our plugins.

Either way, I would also encourage upgrading your PHP version if you can (after a good backup of course). WordPress actually recommends 5.6+, but typically 5.4+ is fine for now.

    You might also want to increase the max_execution_time = 30 to max_execution_time = 300.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Geoff B.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
