ParticipantHello,
With the most recent Events Calendar update, my site’s Community Events form (where our members add their own events) has the Categories checkboxes greyed out, so they can’t apply categories to their events. If I add an event as an administrator, they are there, but for all other levels, they aren’t.
Looking at the HTML generated, WP is adding the following attribute to each of the <input> tags.
disabled=”disabled”

We manage our memberships with s2Member (Pro), and I have gone through to ensure that WP core, TEC/Pro/Community, and s2Member/Pro modules are all updated to most current versions. I have also tried disabling s2Member and other plugins to see if that brings them back, but nothing. Can you help?

MemberHi Joel and welcome to the forums!
So sorry for the trouble here with the categories being disabled on the Community Events submission form. That’s definitely odd and something I can say I haven’t seen before.
I’ve been trying to replicate the issue on my test site (using the latest plugin versions as well) but the categories continue to work in those tests. The only difference I can imagine at the moment is that I’m using a default WordPress theme (Twenty Sixteen) and the theme you’re using might be the source of the conflict. Are you at all able to temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme and confirm that the issue exists there as well? If not, perhaps setting up a test site on the same server instead so we can test there?
Let’s start there and see what we find.
Thanks!

MemberOh sorry, I missed that in the last reply–thanks for the reminder!
I noticed that there is a sidebar on the submission page. Are you using the default event template or another page template? If you’re using another page template, which one and are there any other customizations in place you might be able to think of?
The reason I ask is that I’ve been testing in the same conditions (Twenty Sixteen, no other plugins installed) and have toggled between the default event template and the theme’s default page template without being able to replicate the issue. That suggests there is still something different between our sites and I’m hoping this will help us pin down what that is.
Another thing that might help is seeing the System Information for the test site. If you could head to Events > Settings > Help, copy the information at the bottom of the screen and paste it here (as a private reply), I’d certainly appreciate it!
Thanks so much for your patience while we work on this together.
