ParticipantHello,
I’d like to change the text on my events landing page from ‘Find out more’ to ‘Find out more and Register’. I tried the PHP fix mentioned in https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/change-find-out-more-link-text/ but it didn’t seem to work. Any thoughts?
many thanks,

MemberGood afternoon Jacob and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. In some cases you need to add context to that snippet. Try the following snippet instead: https://gist.github.com/andrasguseo/29903a974cb84060957881c17613c278
Another approach would be to create a view customization. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantGeoff,
Thanks for your reply. I was able to change the RSVP title with that snippet, but regrettably not the “Find out more” text. I’m not very savvy with PHP, so I may have missed something. Any other ideas?
cheers,

MemberGood evening Jacob,
I am glad you were able to make some progress.
On the topic of RSVP, I have one that is meant specifically for every possible place where RSVP is mentioned: https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/0e6fe4cf5fb894f034caa9bd7887b6bf
Fair warning, you can only have one of these snippets in place otherwise your site will crash.
The good news is that you can simply add “Find out more »” to that snippet. Perhaps, you have not included the “»” in your string ?
For this to work, the string has to be exactly the same as the one found in the plugin’s language (pot) file.
Even though, you are not technically translating, to understand how text strings work, I highly recommend reading the 3 following articles on translation:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/how-to-override-plugin-language-files/
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/incomplete-translations/
In any case, could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.Hang in there!

ParticipantGeoff,
Thanks for your careful reply to this thread. I hadn’t included the » in my string previously, so tried it again with that character.
Regrettably, it didn’t work. And I don’t know enough about PHP to analyze this further.
As this is a fairly minor issue, I’m going to drop it there for now and move on to other more major issues (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/non-mosiac-display-for-photo-event-view/).
Thanks all the same for your offer to do further testing…
cheers,
