Can't Configure Vertical Filter Bar

Hi there,

I’ve just installed the Filter Bar on my site, yet no matter what settings I choose, I cannot get the Vertical filter bar on the left hand side as I see in demo examples.

I have change themes to TwentySeventeen, and that does resolve the issue. So… what can I do to fix this issue on the theme that I want to use? Any suggestions on fixing?

I’ve attached screenshot of backend settings and frontend view — still horizontal (and overlapping elements)
