ParticipantI recently updated this website to the newest version of WordPress and also updated all my plugins. I cannot get this plugin to activate. Please help me.

MemberHi there, Dale! Thanks for getting in touch and sorry you’re bumping into some issues with activation.
Is it possible for you to completely remove the plugin folders for both The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO, then do a fresh install of both?
It’s also worth nothing that The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO both need to be installed and running the same version number (currently the latest version is 3.9) to fully function. Go ahead and make sure that is the case for you as well.
Please give that a shot and let me know what you find. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHi there, Dale! Thanks for following up.
Is it possible for you to outline the steps you’re doing to update the plugins so I can try to recreate the scenario?
Thanks!

I deleted both plugins directories
• The Events Calendar
• Events Calendar ProI uploaded both folders to the plugins folder using ftp client
• The-Events-Calendar (downloaded from WordPress plugins site)
• Events-Calendar-Pro (downloaded from you site)I went to wordpress admin> to plugins
I checked both have the same version 3.9
I activated The Events Calendar Plugin
I activated Events Calendar ProI get the afore mentioned error
Thanks

MemberThanks, Dale! That’s super helpful.
Will you please try activating The Events Calendar before The Events Calendar PRO, then let me know if you see a difference? For example, I wonder if the error only happens when you try activating them together, or if you still get the error when you attempt to activate them individually.
I see that you noted trying to deactivate all other plugins and reverting to a default WordPress theme. Did you notice any difference when trying to activate the plugins when all other plugins were deactivated while running a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Thirteen)? These steps are also outlined in our Testing for Conflicts Guide.
Thanks!

ParticipantIf I try to activate at the same time I get the same error as if I activate them one at a time. When I deactivated all plugins and ran the defaut them Twenty Fourteen, I had the same results

MemberThanks Dale! Man, this is certainly a strange one and I haven’t come across something like this before.
A couple of things that will help us troubleshoot this a little more:
- A screenshot of the 404 page. Please take a screenshot of the page and the error that you can share with us. I’m curious if this is a server 404 page or one generated by WordPress.
- More info on your hosting setup. Do you have a link you can share that describes your hosting package? Or is it a custom configuration that you can describe?
Thanks for your cooperation and patience so far while we figure this out!

MemberThanks for sending the hosting info and 404 screenshot!
Hmm, this is a tricky one indeed. The thing that stands out to me is the PRO file name in the 404 URL you provided earlier. Notice how it’s events-calendar-pro%2Fevents-calendar-pro.php in the URL, but it should be events-calendar-pro/events-calendar-pro.php. It’s possible that extra slash is confusing the Windows/IIS hosting environment, or there is an issue with the site’s rewrite rules.
One more thing you could do to give me more information is head over to Events > Settings > Help > System and provide me the output from that. You can provide that as a private reply, if you’d like.
And, please forgive me for repeating myself, but you’re positive that the activation issue only occurs with The Events Calendar PRO and not any other plugins, correct? I just want to make sure that the issue is unique since I haven’t been able to replicate it myself.
Also, as a side note, it’s interesting to see you’re using a Windows hosting package–we don’t see that very often. Do you mind if I ask if you chose that for a reason instead of a Linux package?
Thanks again!

In addition to the the info I sent privately, you asked about other activation problems. No, I did not experience problems activating any other plugins. -
