calendar widget – switch month

Dear forum,

a reason to buy the PRO version was the calendar widget. I am astonished to see now that there are no links to switch to the next or previous months. Is this by design? How could I get the usual previous/next-links for the events calendar widget?

Sorry but this feature is not yet implemented – we have it on the radar for an upcoming version and a number of others have requested so I anticipate this will make it in to a release soon. Thank you for your patience!

thanks for the info. But a quicknote from my side: what use does a calendar widget make, you can’t use for scrolling to another month? I mean today we have April 30th, and I would like to quickly see the days from the next month.
Anyway, I hope the upcoming release is the next one.

Hey Heinz. Thanks for the feedback here. As a bit of explanation: we didn’t actually have the Calendar widget until launching 2.0 a few months ago; based on user demand, we added a simple/bare bones calendar so they’d have something to work with when 2.0 came out. The plan has always been to launch with something super simple and build it up to include categories, month nav, etc down the road. As it now stands the bulk of those changes should be in the 2.1 release that we’re shifting focus to once 2.0.6 is out the door later this week.

Sorry we couldn’t offer up more in the short-term, though. If you need anything else or have other feedback we’d love to hear it…so please let me know. Thanks!

I’ll open with a compliment. It’s a nice tool, the documentation is great, as are the examples and the overall quality of the application, that being said it’d be really nice to be able to browse months in the widget. I’m currently implementing a site for a fairly major jazz festival and we’ve chosen The Event Calendar based on its flexibility via the pro version extensions. Browsing months is kind of an important thing and while I know I can push the user to the large calendar for that many users are just not willingly or easily led and get stuck looking for familiar functionality, like browsing months in a widget.

I’ll end on a good note. Keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to 2.1 and browsing months in the widget and a lot more.
