Calendar view for 'Events', list view for Event category archives?

Hi all,
How can I set all events to appear as a calendar by default and then have each category archive appear as a list?
Setting the ‘Default view for the Events’ option appears to change both.

actually, that might not be the best solution for you, I had to do it this way because I had both a listing and calendar view on the same page.

That might work. Presumably if I create a new archive-tribe_events_cat.php template with the list view code, that will override the plugin.
I’ll try and it and post the answer.

I tried copying the list.php and saving it in my theme folder as taxonomy-tribe_events_cat.php, but it failed the override the calendar view set in the menu options.
Shame.

The way I did it was to just add that PHP code in the function (above) into my base normal page template, then I created a page in WordPress and assigned that template to it, I then just link directly to that page instage of going via the /events/ url … my url is now /eventslistingpage/ or something like that.
