ParticipantMy events page will not display events. Cannot even see them on backend. This is after updating to 3.11 vs of Events Calendar Pro and 3.11 of Filter Bar.
When checking settings, noticed that Filter Bar had no valid key, so I put in the one from the original purchase. Filter Bar version is 3.9 and it doesnât show updates available. There’s a message saying Filter Bar needs updating, but it doesn’t show one available.
Update to 3.11 Filter Bar just now showed up. Updated successfully. Now the calendar page shows an error saying it’s temporarily unavailable, but the events now show up in the backend again. Is this because the filter plugin has to do its thing for a while? How temporary is this? Is this normal? Thanks.

ParticipantSo, I checked for conflicts by deactivating all other plugins, changing to twenty thirteen theme and dumping cache. Events page still has a temporarily unavailable error. Says it cannot serve that request.
I need my calendar back. The calendar is the whole point of the site and the basis of the organization.

ParticipantHey Ann,
Thanks for reaching out to us! This appears to be a performance issue on the site. A couple of notes:
- Do you currently have any caching set up on the site to help reduce the constant load on the server?
- We do have a new built-in caching for the calendar available within the Events Calendar settings under the “Display” tab (https://cloudup.com/cLG1GhRTP1p). Have you tried turning on that setting?
- Out of curiosity, does the calendar work if you have the filter bar disabled?
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantJosh,
I have had WP Super Cache installed and activated. I just disabled the filter bar. No change. đ

ParticipantHey Ann,
Thanks for following up.
What I would do next would be to reach out to your hosting provider to see if they can give you more detailed information about what is happening leading up to the timeout. There may be  something that they’re able to handle on their side or at least give us a bit more information in diagnosing exactly what’s happening here.
Thanks!

ParticipantJosh,
Here’s what I got from the text from the support ticket and what they found:As to our prior conversation you mentioned that the calendar wasn’t showing up on the calendar page of http://www.socodancebeat.com. We found that we needed to extend the 30 second execution time in your .htaccess file. After doing so we didn’t get a time out but was getting an error message from the plug that referenced a file that is no longer showing in your content.
I have provided the error message below:
19-Aug-2015 12:17:18 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /mnt/stor3-wc2-dfw1/496998/908895/www.socodancebeat.com/web/content/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Cost_Utils.php on line 163August 19, 2015 at 4:26 pm #997425Ann Hutchinson
ParticipantJosh,
Also, before updating, on the backend of the events I could use the filters I set up in the filter bar plugin to find an event to edit it. Now it says this:Pssst! Looking for the filters? They live in a separate plugin now | Download for free| Dismiss
But that takes me to a WP site, not Modern Tribe, so I didn’t download that.

ParticipantHey Ann,
Thanks for following up with this information.
For the first issue with the missing file, it sounds like you may no longer have full versions of the plugin installed on your site. This could be due to the initial issue when trying to update. The best thing to do now would be to download the latest versions of the plugins from your account here on http://theeventscalendar.com and install them on your site via FTP (if you’re unsure about how to do this, your hosting provider most likely has a tutorial for handling this best on their servers).
For the backend filters, we did recently remove those from the core plugin in favor of having those be their own plugin. You can download that plugin here https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-post-manager/.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantJosh,
I can’t believe how long this is taking to resolve. I could have rebuilt the thing by now. đ So, I have the license key for the calendar, but the guy who’s server (Rackspace account) I’m hosting it on purchased it and you don’t have a way to download, then put in key without first purchasing. It expires in December, so I’d rather not pay till I need to.Secondly, where are my actual events (data) stored? I got into the ftp and found the folder for the plugin, but don’t know whether to replace the whole folder or just pieces. And if so, which ones? That’s not a question for the host. That’s something you should be able to answer.
I don’t want to lose the events I have input through September and beyond. The magnitude of this for me is that I just spent two hours retyping events into a blog post and there were 23 just for today. I still need to do that for tomorrow and my users love that they could plan ahead. đ I’m doing all of this in addition to a full-time job. Then I have to do this sort of thing on the weekend, when you have no available support.
If I can’t get this resolved, I may have to start looking for a different calendar. Please be more specific with your help since I have to wait at least a day for every answer. This is way too much downtime. This plugin, for my site, is everything. I can’t even throw more money at it. No one can help me in real time.

ParticipantHey Ann,
I apologize for any confusion that I may have caused with my previous responses. I understand the importance of this information for you and your site as well as the impact that it has on your users. I’ll try to hit all of your points with full details here:
- You’re currently posting to this forum while logged into this site correct? You should be able to visit https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/ and download the latest versions of the plugins without repurchasing them. According to our records, it looks like you should have access to download the latest versions of the Filter Bar plugin as well as Events Calendar PRO from that page. Are you unable to see those on that downloads link? You can download the latest version of our Core plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/.
- It sounds like you’re able to access the files on your site via FTP? The events that you have entered are stored in your site’s database. This means that you can replace the files on the server without worrying about losing that content that you have added. I would recommend deleting the three plugins (The Events Calendar, Events Calendar PRO, and Filter Bar) completely from the “wp-content/plugins” folder on your server and replacing them with the fresh versions you downloaded in step 1.
- You can then log back into your WordPress dashboard and activate the plugins again.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!
