    Hi,

On this page – http://seniorcenterjh.org/events/ – we are currently showing the monthly view with 7 days. We had displayed it as a 5 day view (omitting the weekends) until last week when we switched back to a normal 7 day view. To achieve the 5 day view I added some styling to the css file to hide Saturday & Sunday, then omitted that to go back to the default view.

The problem is that some viewers are still seeing the 5 day view. I have cleared the cache via the site (through hosting at WPEngine) and also cleared the cache completely through Cloudflare.

When discussing with our hosting provider they mentioned that the issue might be related to the event plugin delivering static assets. I’m not sure how this would be the case as again, I made the change for the 5 day view via our theme’s stylesheet. But I figured it would be good to just check in with you guys as no other solutions have completely worked yet.

Do you have any other ideas why this might be happening?

    Thanks!

    Hi Seadar,

I’m sorry to hear you are having issues with your site. I will try to help figure out what the problem is.

This definitely sounds like a caching issue. If you have cleared the site cache via the WP Engine dashboard and flushed the Cloudflare cache, the new stylesheet should be showing up. However, this may take some time, but usually not more than half a day. If users are still seeing the old styles more than a day later, perhaps their browser caches need to be flushed? The way to do this will vary between operating systems and browsers. On a Mac using Chrome, it’s as simple as hitting Command-Shift-R.

Are you using any other caching or performance enhancing plugins on your site? If so, you may need to flush the cache from within the plugin’s settings.

Where did you add the custom CSS you used to modify the calendar view? In your child theme’s CSS?

    Thanks,
    Sky

    Hey Sky,

I know – it definitely seems like a caching issue, but the problem is happening on certain users’ computers and it has been over a week (more like 10 days).

The thing is – a lot of visitors to this site are not tech savvy. So many of them don’t know how to clear their cache. I can tell the clients how to clear their cache, but they are worried that other visitors are still seeing the old version of that calendar (since they have 1 computer at their office that still does).

I added the styling to the child theme’s css. I can’t think of any other plugins that use caching on the site. It’s weird because I have never experienced a caching issue quite this long.

    Thanks

    Seadar,

That does seem like a long time for the caching to clear. I have a lot of experience with WP Engine, and have never had anything like this happen. Cloudflare, however, is notorious for causing issues like this, so I would focus your investigation there first.

As this is not an Events Calendar issue, I’m afraid there’s not much more I can help with on this. Good luck, and please let us know if you have any issues or questions regarding any of our plugins in the future.

    Thanks,
    Sky

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
