ParticipantThe community add-on login form is duplicating in my sidebar. It’s likely a result of the custom loop pulling items into the sidebar. A simple solution for me, if possible, would be for the form to use a different template, one without a sidebar at all. Is it possible to assign the community add-on to a unique template?

MemberHi there, Tom!
Yes, you can create a theme override for the edit-event.php template. This is the template Community uses for community events submissions. Check out our Themer’s Guide for a step-by-step on overrides, especially for creating custom template files.
Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

ParticipantDoesn’t seem to be anything in the themer’s guide about changing the template used for the community related screens. I looked at edit-event, but don’t see where its using a particular template. I’ll need to setup page-sometribename.php and have the community add-on pull from that.

MemberHi Tom, that will definitely work as well. ๐
Just for clarification, theย edit-event.php file is the template that you would override if you want to customize the layout for the Community Events submission page. The Themer’s Guide provides the steps for how to create an override in your theme directory rather than editing the core template itself.
Hope that helps. Is there anything else I can help explain or clarify? Thanks!

ParticipantAlmost there… the community form shows WITHIN our default WordPress template. The form is not compatible with our default template’s sidebar, so I need to create a new template without a sidebar for the community form to display within. Are you writing that the themer’s guide has the necessary information for this?

MemberAh, I see. Thanks for clarifying. ๐
Yes, if the calendar is using your theme’s default page template, then you want to create an additional template that utilizes a different sidebar. All calendar pages will use that template, but at least it will be formatted the way you want it and you can always create additional overrides for specific calendar view.
Thanks again for clarifying, that definitely helped. Let me know if I can help explain anything further.

ParticipantI’d prefer that only the community add-on form pages use the new template, not the calendar.

MemberYeah, unfortunately we don’t currently support a way to change the template that the Community form uses. However, you should be able to use the conditional tags referenced in this post to include different elements on that specific page.
