I updated the modern tribe event plugins. I do have pro. After doing so recurring events are not displaying correctly. I am trying to make an event display as Saturday and Sunday weekly. Sunday does not display in the grid at all and a few Saturdays do. It works perfectly in the list view. I tried turing off plugins.

Hi wgoodman: unfortunately I seem unable to reach the website using the URL you shared – can you confirm that URL is correct/provide an updated one? It would be great to see the problem first hand in case any obvious causes present themselves.

    Thanks!

The website is not yet live to the public. Here is the URL:
    http://www.acaquarium.com.php54-1.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com/events/
The plugin worked perfectly before the update.

I need to point out the issue… go to this link:
    http://www.acaquarium.com.php54-1.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com/events/2014-05/
If you view April in list view, you can see the repeating event, but in the grid view, it only appears for one Saturday.

I see this in my error logs:
[29-Mar-2014 20:49:57 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Class ‘TribeEventsImporter_Plugin’ not found in /mnt/target05/349860/884997/www.acaquarium.com/web/content/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/io/csv/ecp-events-importer.php on line 6

and also this, but I don’t know if it is related:

[29-Mar-2014 20:47:29 UTC] PHP Warning: json_encode(): Invalid UTF-8 sequence in argument in /mnt/target05/349860/884997/www.acaquarium.com/web/content/wp-includes/update.php on line 254

Do you recommend reinstalling the older plugin?

Thanks for the details, that’s helpful in fleshing out an idea as to what’s happening and I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough ride, here.

In the first instance let’s ensure the plugin updated correctly. If you’re comfortable doing so (either via FTP or your hosting control panel’s file manager) please navigate to:

    wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/io/csv/classes

This directory should contain a number of files including:

    TribeEventsImporter_Plugin.php

Can you confirm if that file is present?

Regarding the event which isn’t displaying properly, can you confirm if that was created before or after you upgraded – if you created it before, it would be interesting to know if recreating now that you have updated works as expected.

Do you recommend reinstalling the older plugin?

Ideally we’ll be able to work through this and while I’ve no doubt this is frustrating if you could bear with us a little longer to try and troubleshoot this that would be preferable, though you are of course free to downgrade if you wish to do so.

Thanks for your patience and support while we look into this.

Yes, The the TribeEventsImporter_Plugin.php is in the classes library.
I started to populate the client’s calendar before I upgraded. After I upgraded, I saw that there was an issue. I then deleted everything and even deleted the trash. I started to re-populate the calendar and saw I had this issue.

Can you share a screengrab (or just detail here) the event settings? For instance:

    • Starts on 1st April 2014 ends on the same day
    • Is an all day event
    • Recurs using a custom pattern, weekly, each week on Saturday and Sunday until 30th April 2014
    • and any other pertinent details

Could you also share your system info as provided in the Events → Help admin screen?

    Thanks!

Thanks – at this point I’d just like to clarify a few more things:

I see this in my error logs:
[29-Mar-2014 20:49:57 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Class ‘TribeEventsImporter_Plugin’ not found …

Can you confirm if the date and time for these entries coincides with a particular operation? For instance, do these entries continue to occur and does anything you are doing in the admin environment appear to clearly trigger them?

    I tried turing off plugins.

That’s a great thing to try: can you confirm if at the same time you switched to a default, unmodified theme or if not could you try that step now?

Thanks once again for your patience while we work through this 🙂

I was able to get all of my reoccurring events to display correctly in the grid view by going to the settings panel and deselecting this:

    Recurring event instances
Show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views).

It appears that it does affect the grid view.

THANK YOU SEAN!!! Yes, when I turned off the checkbox it is displaying correctly in the grid. The questions I have now for Barry… Is this a bug in the plugin end or do I still have a problem with my set up. It is lame showing the events multiple times in list view. I believe this worked in the older version. To answer Barry’s question about the error message. I have not seen this message after that one time. All I was doing was adding the events and viewing them when I looked in my logs. I had turned off plugins before that. The only error message I see is this and I don’t think it has to do with the events plugin (I don’t know what it is):
[01-Apr-2014 09:10:46 UTC] PHP Warning: json_encode(): Invalid UTF-8 sequence in argument in /mnt/target05/349860/884997/www.acaquarium.com/web/content/wp-includes/update.php on line 254

It is (thanks Sean) – we just hit on this not long after I last posted a reply in here.

We’re definitely treating this issue (with the recurring event instances setting) as a bug and are working to turn out a solution as quickly as we can.

Bear with us and we’ll do our best to update you here once it’s resolved/we have something else to report.
