ParticipantThis is somewhat a follow-on to this ticket https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/once-events-erroneously-listed-as-recurring/#post-1011901 “Once” events created in 3.12 are still showing up only when the Recurring filter is set to Yes, or the Recurring filter is not set at all.
But, we were managing, since events are (were!) listed farthest in the future first, then the previous day, etc. Daily recurring events would both show on the same days, alternating.
Now – after update to 4.0 – I think they are being shown in the order they were *created*. You can see the pattern below – first date is the actual class date; this list is of all classes including recurring (see screenshot of my settings.) Unless noted, each is a single-occurrence, one-day class.
1/04 created 12/04
11/17 created 11/09
1/05 — created 10/27 (daily recurring class #1)
1/04 (same event as above)
etc.
11/06 (same event as above)
10/28 (same event as above; this anomaly is being investigated separately)11/05 — created 10/21
11/18 — created 10/211/04 — created 10/19 (daily recurring class #2)
…
11/06 (same event as above)10/26 — created 10/16
10/13 — created 10/22
…bunch of one-time classes dating back to March
3/25 — created 1/23/15
12/09 — created 1/23/15
This last is pretty perplexing as it shows on the 3rd page of results! So if my team needed to make an edit to that event (which is the 2nd-latest event on my calendar, aside from my two daily recurring events) say to set it for a future date, they’d have quite a search.

ParticipantForgot the screenshot!

Also, the behavior is the same if I click “Start Date” twice at the top of that column (i.e., reverse the order then reverse it back.)

MemberHey Terri,
Thanks for reaching out to us! And sorry to hear this issue hasn’t been address still. I’ve checked the backlog and I could find the ticket Geoff logged when you reported this. Unfortunately this wasn’t included in the 4.0 release of APM that just came out. I see there’s no specific date for this, but I’ll ping the product manager to get some update on this.
I’ll keep you posted,
Best,

MemberPS: I’ll also look into the ‘new’ ordering issue that was maybe introduced in 4.0.

MemberHi Terri,
Just wanted to give you a quick heads up on this issue, the fix for this will hopefully be included in the APM maintenance release 🙂
I couldn’t look at the ordering issue but I’ll try to do so tomorrow!
Thanks,

ParticipantThanks Nico! That will help a lot!!

MemberHi Terri,
Thanks for the patience I’ve been playing around and found that the order issue seems to be within recurring instance of the same event (take a look: https://cloudup.com/c4Q0eT1oU5d). Just logged it as a bug for it to get fixed. Do you think this is what’s affecting your event list? Maybe a different aspect of the same issue?
Please let me know about it,
Best,
NicoDecember 9, 2015 at 12:30 pm #1038425Nico
MemberPS: also, it doesn’t seem to be related with APM. Activating/Deactivating APM wasn’t altering what I get.

ParticipantIn your example, are first-middle-last the order in which they were published? for example first was created first then middle then last? If so, based on what I’m seeing, it would be the other way around – last, then middle then first. Latest published to earliest.
Once the sort order returns to Start Date instead of published date, I think we’ll be good. And I did just confirm what you mention – turning APM off had no effect. So it’s a TEC plugin bug, not an APM plugin bug.
I think my current situation is clouded by the fact that non-recurring events are showing up as recurring events – which you said will be fixed in the next release.

MemberHey Terri,
Thanks for your follow-up!
I think my current situation is clouded by the fact that non-recurring events are showing up as recurring events – which you said will be fixed in the next release.
Indeed, I see there has been progress on the fix and it’s ready for QA. I have no specific dates on when this will be out but hopefully it’s soon.
Regarding the order bug I’ve added it to the backlog but I’m not sure when will be seeing it ready.
Do you think I can close this ticket or is there anything else I can do for you here?
Have a great weekend,

ParticipantHi Nico,
Go ahead and close it, I will keep my eyes open for maintenance releases and open a new ticket later if needed.
Thanks!

MemberGood news everyone!
We’ve just release a maintenance release that addresses this issue. Please look for updates to your Events plugin(s) on your site. Thank you for your patience while we worked to address the reported issues. And don’t forget to review the release notes for all the details on version 4.0.3.
While our testing shows that the new release fixes the problem reported here, sites are different and it’s possible that there are edge cases. If you are still seeing the issue after you update your plugins, please post a new thread so we can look into it further.
Thank you for your support!
Best,
